Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition

This game, lore aside, is one of the classic RTS of the years 2000 that made something unique that will still know today. The strategic points to capture on top of the classical RTS base construction makes the game more about positions, lanes and strategy. ON top of that you have on top of the classical Rock paper scissors mechanics, you have spells, heroes, abilities that makes the game more focus of the life of your units. Campaign is ok, but multiplayer realy shines for me. 8 factions with differents playstyle. What it needs the most : better pathfinding of units / better story telling in the main campaign / balance of some units. 17/20

One of my fav RTS of all time (if not my fav), been playing my Tau folks since I was a teen, love this game ! (It only needed some tyranids but that's ok, i'll excuse this outrage easily)

9/10, a game that sold me on Warhammer This game is a classic, both for its gameplay and its story. Despite releasing more than two decades ago, it still holds up in 2026. The only RTSs I’ve ever played are Stronghold and RUSE (and Total War though it’s pretty different from the aforementioned games). So the fact I had so much fun playing this game is a testimony to its quality. I’ve never played Warhammer game, but if this is what WH is, then I’m a fan. The base game story is simple but it’s highly effective in its execution. So is Winter Assault, to a lesser degree. The characters are unique and interesting, thanks to their voice actors and the script. I’ll never forget the line, “Innocents must die so that humanity may survive.” The gameplay is just great. I loved playing as Space Marines and Necrons, but I also tried Sisters of Battle, Imperial Guard, and Orks. These latter three were not as fun IMO, but I can see them appealing to many other players. Theres so many other factions, it seems likely you will enjoy at least a few of them. The gameplay loop is standard RTS fun, but supremely satisfying to master. Dark Crusade really elevated the base game, but I thought Soulstorm didn’t add enough on top of DK to make it equal. All-in-all, the single-player game rocks. I’m sure the multiplayer is even more fun. I recommend this game for anyone who wants to play an RTS, even if you’re not a fan of the genre.
