Very impressed! While some may feel (correctly), that this is not a game, these VR "experiences" still provide much opportunity to entertain as the developer VROOM has crammed in many little details that elevate this to near simulation status, while also providing the user with many items to interact with. Pro's: SCALE!! From the very start, you can appreciate the incredible sense of scale this experience provides. You start off in the middle of a Galleon, with the first thing that catches your eyes are the high mast, then the size of the ship, the cannon's, etc. Not that I've ever been on one but.., it just feels right and the 3D conveyed here once again shows why VR is a winner to anyone who tries it! Graphics: Everything is rendered well, with above average texture work. The water though helps elevate the experience to another level as it's quite beautiful and flat out hypnotising. I caught myself staring a few times, just looking out into the distance. Interaction: There are many items (the description lists 74). I won't list them here (the entire point of VR experiences is to... experience these for yourselves) but there's a sufficient amount that it should lead me to keep searching to find them all. I will say some of the secrets show a decent amount of imagination! LOL Word of warning... stay off the sauce; if not, you'll regret it.. especially in VR!! :) Issues: The only glitch I've seen on the current version is once I was in the water, depending on where I gaze, there seemed to be glitches on the edge of my peripheral vision. Nothing horribly bad nor that distracting but should be mentioned just the same. Recommendation: For me, absolutely a worthwhile experience, however, there is always room for improvement. Same as others, I would love to be able to sail and/or attack other ships but understand the engine doesn't currently allow this level of interaction while keeping this required frame rate. Fair enough, but maybe more could be added via: - something to keep track of the interactive objects you've discovered (ie; achievements). This would greatly expand on the user's need to keep exploring (we love to catch ‘em all!) - more items to interact with, I guess we can never have enough ;) - Adjusting the canon's so that we can turn them into a target mini-game (or sinking ships in the distance along the lines of classic arcade games of old... including keeping track of high-scores) Recap and rating: although not a game per say, this experience still hits home and is a success. There's lots to do, the quality is evident and although there is room for improvement, IMHO from a POV of experience, it's a worthwhile investment. I rate this experience a 4 out of 5 stars. looking forward to seeing what's next from VRoom!

this game is the best vr experience of Pirate we could hope the boat is incredible the interaction are great great graphism , great vr , great animations , i love the differents events and possibilities the only thing a little disapointed is the sword can cut only one time one item of the monkey mini game it would be fun to can choose between the guns and the sword and the second thing is the bird fly is great but to see the bird under us with few pixels is a little more difficult and give more the motion sickness , maybe if we could have the choice to be on the bird or to be in the first person too pushing on a button to change a second time of view would help but if not this game is a wonder on the pirate universe the only thing i could dream to see would an event where womans pirates and men pirate could be in the sleep cabin and sing yoho yoho the pirate song from disney , even if it should stay surely a dream since the rights on the song are maybe hard to have but anyway i can only recommend this incredible and wonderfull experience on the theme of pirate it is the best and a real wonder
Who does not want to be a pirate? pro - ship gently bobs in the water and it quite realistic. - there is enough interaction on the ship to amuse. especially in the cabins and hull - getting eaten by a shark gets you an achievement - the island is quite large and well done, with two old settlements - if the select the seagull, you become the sea gull and can fly. awesome but got a bit of travel sickness during flight. con - the teleport is a pain in the arse. for each hop you need to wait about 9 seconds before you can hop again. so often if you are impatient when the green circle comes up again you seem to skip two ahead. - ALSO when you teleport you never landforward. You can of course turn around but it is a pain. - island there is not much to do. fight monkeys....though there is a treasure map which is need to go back and try, which might be fun UPDATE Still having issues finding the treasure but have fought the kraken, played the music instrument on the bow, spotted the mermaid and played again with the jewels. the jewels are amazing and sparkley.
Be careful with this game, when I was trying it out, sinking the boat froze the engine, I liked the Idea for a while but the slow coding made a ton of issues on character death, i.e. If you play with the Mermaid and the Shark Eats you the game freezes.
Great VR experience. I love all the details and surprises. I had to buy the bundle.
I found this a really great experience in VR. The ship is beautifully modelled and the overall level of graphics impressive, but above all the sense of scale is amazing. Climbing the rigging to reach the top of the masts as the ship glides through the ocean waves is an awesome experience, with the sound of the sails flapping in the wind and the dizzying views down to the wooden decks below. That alone was worth the purchase price! Add to this plenty of interaction and fun elements to experience on the ship, a tropical island to find and explore and the opportunity to view this all from a bird's eye point of view as you become a seagull with free flight. What's not to like, thoroughly recommended!
I like the experiences created in the early days of VR. I love that when they still look good and are perfectly playable.
While I would recommend this VR environmental experience, I have to say that the total lack of a tutorial is bothersome. It is not clear how to interact with the environment and therefore it can become boring quickly. As a little pirate cove, some characters to interact with would also be nice.
I played this first back at release, in 2016. It's now 2021 and it has never been updated or fixed up in any way. Controls are designed first for mouse and keyboard, so if you want smooth locomotion, you can kind of get it at your desk, but you need the VR controllers to interact with objects. If using only VR controls, you will be stuck with only teleport, and it's a very slow, finnicky teleport mechanic. You *can* escape the ship by teleporting, but in order to get to the island, you have to switch levels by pulling a lever toward the back half of the middle of the ship, which was apparently easy to miss because I missed it until my third play of this experience. The ship has a lot of interactive elements, but you cannot sail the ship. You can, however, and to the surprise of myself, control a bird from the back of the ship and fly it all over the level, which is cool but very nauseating. The bird controls are pretty bad but also pretty immersive in a way. If I didn't get nauseated from it, I'd probably enjoy it... briefly. Anyway, there are also shootable cannons and lots of treasure to stare at. There are also a few rooms on the ship and a looking scope, which doesn't seem to do much but hey, it's there and it works. While the ship is very well populated with a bunch of things to look at and interact with, the island is pretty dull, aside from the topless mermaid, which was a pretty hilarious find, I must say. I never did find the pirate minigame seen in the trailer video, not sure how that gets started, but it's probably some button or something somewhere on the island. I got bored of looking. lol Overall, for $7, I cannot recommend this. However, if you can get it for less than 40 cents, it could be considered worth adding to your VR environments collection at least. The achievements add an extra layer of fun if you like that kind of thing, but there's no menu system to keep track of what achievements are done in the game, and Steam doesn't provide this either for in-VR UI, so it can feel like made-up fun. Regardless, there's not a lot to do here. It's a shame the developer hasn't been communicating and keeping their experiences updated with new features and updated controls over time, because updated controls would definitely help sell something like this. I'd also like to see multiplayer support so we could invite friends to role-play pirates.
couldn't stand more than a minute in this stupidity
