If you're looking for a classic console style JRPG and you want to adventure with a puppy and a blob of magical slime (with a skull floating around in there!), then this is the game for you! Some things I really liked about the game, and other thoughts: + Big variety of classes to assemble a party of four with! I went with Champion, Savior, Slime Knight, and Companion (pup!). + Fun combat, but comes with the ability to turn off encounters if you ever need a breather. + Very, very useful status effects in combat helps make each skill in your arsenal potentially useful in one way or another. + Great variety of equipment and abilities so you're always evaluating what would be best to use. + Memorable NPCs, locations, and bosses bring the world to life. Each area was well done and had its own unique vibe. After playing this, I'm really looking forward to what Ephiam works on next.
This game makes me so happy. It's really well done, and you should give it a try if you're on the fence for sure.

Great game! Nice throwback to old-school RPGs with tons of customization and optional content (including superbosses). If you enjoyed stuff like Artifact Adventure you'll probably like this one too (though Venaitura is probably easier for the most part). Some of the dialogue and story beats are hit-or-miss, the monster catching area was the most fun I had personally, but other times the diaogues can drag a bit. The encounter rate was way too high which would be a bigger strike against the game except you can disable them entirely for your current screen. Though I would have liked it better if was just a tad lower by default. Can't wait to see the dev's other projects!
You should stop reading this review and buy the game already.
VERY nice RPG! The dev, Ephiam, shows some real talent with RPGMaker here, and this feels like it could easily be a professional product made by a small team of people! Plays more on the simpler side of RPGMaker games but the quality is through the roof, really interesting stuff here. PLUS you can create your party from a wide selection of cool Classes! Neat! Thanks for the RPGs and looking forward to more from this dev! (Note - you can find more of his work on itch.io .)
Really needs some QoL... Avoid until then.
I'm generally not into RPG's but still had fun checking this one out! The story seems interesting and fun. The music is also really good! For me the battle style isn't my favorite for a classic RPG, I usually like being able to see the characters fighting, of course that's a stylistic choice. Overall, for the short time I've played so far I had a great time!
Venaitura is a short, fun, charming and sometimes serious game with a good balance of ease and difficulty. With twelve character classes and an absolutely huge variety of options for party balance, my first play through might just be a little biased since I chose Wiseman, Savior, Druid and Companion. I am one of the early playtesters of this game and although I have not found any bugs, I've heard from a few other players there are some, BUT the game dev, Ephiam is very active and I haven't heard of any game breaking bugs. The game does it's world building quite well and despite the corniness of it's names, puns and humor, the plot can be very dark. Not Dragon Age dark, but definitely serious. Unfortunately none of the playable characters seem to have any actual personality. They are just blank slates, kind of like Dragon Warrior/Quest III.
This one is pretty cool. Its really fun making a team. A lot of combinations work perfectly fine. Would hugely recommend you have a party healer as late game kinda expect that (or you have a lot of money for the megaelixir like item to spam). This is because difficulty ramps up quite quickly, especially in the latter half of the game. The boss fights are where this game especially shines. They are all very interesting, and bosses can be inflicted with a surprising amount of ailments or stat debuffs that can greatly assist in your success in encounters. There's surprising amounts of equipment with a lot of different effects to take advantage of because of this. Having a party who can wear a decent variety of weapons really pays off in this regard. The story is also nothing too deep, but works for this kind of game. Your party is sent down by a god to assist the people of the planet to conquer the tower, Venaitura. There's some surprising turns taken in the game that kept me intrigued, and loved how the final plot threads came together. The ending was very bittersweet. It's awesome that a single developer took simple rpg mechanics pushed into interesting directions. There's lots of equipment to find and collect, and a story that had an alright hook from beginning to end. Can't wait to try out their other titles here on Steam one day. Can easily recommend this RPG as a cool one to play.
Fun little NES-style RPG. Nothing too special, but it scratches that itch for an evening. As for feedback for the developer: I wish there was more graphical feedback to make it easier to take in information - some visual effects from spells in battle, HP bars, icons indicating what type of item you just picked up, etc. Battles almost felt like a text adventure with so little animation. Also the NPCs talk a lot, and it's not always clear which dialogue is important.
