While I realize this is an early access title, I don't think this was the developers' best effort. The first comparison that came to my mind when playing it is Hollow Knight, which I think was intentional, but also not inherently a bad thing. What makes this a rather clunky mess is its physics, which don't seem to be very polished. It's hard to describe through text, but I think "inconsistent" is the word that comes to mind for me; Using a pogo or wall-jump feels too sensitive, and you move slightly too fast in the air, so you simply snap back and forth with no real sense of control, and maybe it was just me, but some of the enemies don't seem to have hitboxes, where certain attacks don't even land, despite the effect of the strike going through the character. There was also a recurring bug where the camera suddenly zooms in towards the background at random, and while it corrected itself in short order, it happened often enough that it was very distracting. The little wisp character that follows the PC around also gives exposition sometimes, but when doing so, the camera seems to deliberately pan away from her text box, so any dialogue she might have had is obscured. Although, any time she says anything, the camera seems to be zoomed out as the PC moves, so it's hard to even see what she's saying to begin with. I get that this is meant to keep the player in the action and not get bogged down as you're moving, but this seems to be an ill-advised middle ground between stopping the player in their tracks for a cutscene and having a distracting text box in the middle of the screen. I think I'd have just preferred a cutscene, if what the wisp is saying is actually important. The final thing that I want to bring up is that the map feels very disjointed; going through a door into a new room is a bit jarring, and doesn't feel like it makes sense in the physical space of the map. There was also the one occasion that, when going through a door from the right, he comes out a door on the left, as though there was meant to be an elevator or stairs taking him somewhere, but there was no indication that that was the case; it just looks like all the other doors. All in all, I don't recommend this game at this time, and I implore the developers to keep trying.
Before I played UROS: A TRIP THROUGH SHADOWS, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Good game overall especially for a free one. I looked into esat and its a school/university, making this most likely a school project. Metroidvanias tend to be harder to design so I was already impressed from that. Pros: overall nice art style, good exploration and the movement is excellent. Wall jumping feels great in this game. Cons: There are random bugs. I have fallen through the world while exploring and the map button stopped working at one point. Closing the game and coming back in fixes it and I have not run into anything that completely destroys a save or anything, just mild annoyances. This definitely has a lot of potential and with a bit of debugging and minor tweaks this has a lot of promise to it. I do recommend people give it a shot.
Игра 'UROS: A Trip Through Shadows' – это атмосферное и визуально завораживающее приключение.
Can't recommend on the current state, hope it gets patched up. I spend 20+ mins on the first part due to the jump mechanics, it just a random change to reach a higher level platform by sheer luck on precise timing (the one where you get the heal spell.. which btw is glitched out as the "press up" doesn't disappear). Camera zooms into random points on the screen for no reason whatsoever. The hints the sprite gives you are either too many or too fast so either you miss reading them or you are flooded with suggestions. Controllers feel too clunky and animation seem he is just lazily swinging his arm while having the sword in hand. Without any hint on how to progress except a "look up the key" but not seeing any KEY aside a locked spirit in a place that required a skill to reach.. decided to explore the other frozen caves.. which i jumped into the spiked lake out of boredom ... just to crash the game by touching it XD If the demo gets an update I will review it again.
