Ryan George Style Pitch Meeting:
THE SCENE: The meeting takes place inside the high-altitude eye of a swirling cosmic hyper-tornado, floating directly above a beautifully stylized, crisp digital metropolis. The Publisher sits behind an incredibly massive desk crafted entirely from compressed, glowing solid-neon light. The Game Designer stands opposite him, completely suspended in mid-air by a localized anti-gravity field that ripples with bright cinematic lens flares. In the background, instead of walls, giant monolithic subwoofers the size of skyscrapers blast operatic vocal music into the stratosphere, featuring a non-stop, majestic one-woman vocal wail that is so emotionally overwhelming it causes nearby clouds to rain tears of pure, unadulterated hype. Publisher: So, you have a video game for me where a person flies around a city and completely refuses to let anyone or anything impede their absolute dominance, all while listening to music that sounds like a choir of angels having an existential celebration? Game Designer: Yes, sir, I do! It is called UNDEFEATED, and it is a free student project that is going to completely blow your mind into the next dimension! Publisher: Wow wow wow. Wow. A student project? So I assume it looks like a blocky piece of absolute chaos and runs at three frames per week? Game Designer: Oh, absolutely not! It has incredibly high production values. It was made by just three students at an academy, but it has the absolute cinematic flair of a multi-million-dollar blockbuster. It is like the ultimate lovechild of James Gunn, the Russo brothers, Edgar Wright, and Zack Snyder all fused into one beautiful entity! Publisher: That is a lot of dads for one video game. Game Designer: It really is. And the visual presentation is so clean and sharp, you can streak past skyscrapers at breakneck speeds, leave massive impact craters in the pavement when you land, and generate giant sonic booms without any visual clutter at all! Publisher: Oooooh, massive impact craters are tight! Game Designer: They are incredibly tight! Especially since you are completely invincible. Publisher: Wait, what? Invincible? How is there any challenge if the main character cannot be defeated? Isn't that going to make the game super easy, barely an inconvenience? Game Designer: Oh, reall—wait, no, that's my line. Actually, yes! It is super easy to pick up, but the twist is, you don't have a health bar. The city's safety is your health bar! Publisher: Oh my god. Game Designer: Yes! So when a giant mechanical boss shows up and tries to launch a catastrophic energy attack capable of leveling the entire city, you have to fly directly into the sky and intercept it head-on with your bare hands! Publisher: Wow, that sounds incredibly intense. Does this world-ending threat stand his ground and fight you like a respectable villain? Game Designer: Oh, absolutely not! The moment his britch grass realizes you are completely invincible and packing the combined kinetic force of Chris Redfield and Sonic the Hedgehog, he turns around and tries to run away from you! Publisher: Oh my god. A fleeing boss? Game Designer: Yes! He starts desperately booking it through the skyline, spamming ranged attacks behind him like a total coward just to keep you off his tail! Publisher: So, is catching up to him going to be a huge hassle? Game Designer: Super easy, barely an inconvenience! You just streak right through his projectiles, utilizing long-range energy strikes to stun him mid-air, and then you close the distance instantly to absolutely beat his grass Jojo-style! Publisher: Oooooh, beating his grass Jojo-style is tight! Game Designer: It is incredibly tight! You get the perfect rhythmic, heavy crunch of the Arkham games, the raw boulder-punching brute force of Chris Redfield, and the blinding speed of a blue hedgehog! You are just delivering these massive, high-speed aerial strikes—like a total ORA ORA ORA rush of pure kinetic power! And while you are hunting him down through the clouds, you get to channel that ultimate legendary meme energy, staring at him like the Uganda film meme going, "WHY ARE YOU RUNNING?!" Publisher: Very considerate of you to ask him about his cardio! Game Designer: Right?! And then you completely tap into that wild Yondu, Foghorn Leghorn, and Mr. T fusion, screaming across the heavens, "GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE BOY, I AINT DONE WITH YOU! I'M GONNA SHOW YOU A REAL THUMPING, A REAL WHOOP-ASS KICKING!" Publisher: Did you just shout southern space-pirate anime noises at me? Game Designer: [i_(As a giant monolithic subwoofer behind him peaks with a soaring operatic wail)_] Yes sir I did! Also, the music is an operatic, cinematic, emotional masterpiece! It has this grand one-woman wail layer that carries so much mythic scale, it will literally bring players to tears just listening to it in the main menu! Publisher: Well, okay then! But wait, if you're a superhero in a massive open city, are people going to compare this to those massive superhero games made by giant AAA companies? Game Designer: Oh, they absolutely will, and then they will realize those AAA games pale in comparison! Aside from the Arkham series, the big corporate superhero games are a far inferior experience! We have been lacking a decent Superman game since the GameCube days! And we haven't had a proper standalone Iron Man game since the Xbox 360, bar that sadly unfairly delisted, underrated Avengers game that honestly deserved way better! Publisher: It really did deserve better. Why did they delist it? Game Designer: Because! Publisher: Fair enough. Game Designer: So anyway, we just gave the players pure, unshackled escapism, you fly around, put out fires, smash giant machines and fools faces in, and fulfill a lifelong, childhood, impossible dream! Publisher: I do love childhood dreams. They make me money. But what about side challenges? Do we have any arbitrary tasks for the player to do while flying? Game Designer: Oh, absolutely. We have flight challenges where you have to fly through floating rings in the sky! Publisher: Oh no. Floating rings in a superhero game? Isn't that going to give anyone who played Superman 64 a massive bout of renewed gaming PTSD? Game Designer: Whoops! Publisher: Whoopsie! Game Designer: Hey, shut up! Because our version actually has responsive controls and fair physics, so it turns the ancient ring-flying curse into pure, satisfying kinetic joy! You move so fast you leave speed lines in the air! Publisher: Well, that works. So who exactly does the player feel like while doing all this? Game Designer: You feel like a perfect mixture of Superman, All Might, Yondu, Jotaro, Jonathan Joestar, Foghorn Leghorn, and Mr. T! Publisher: What? Game Designer: What? Publisher: Well, okay then! That is a very eccentric character salad! Game Designer: Great! And since it is a completely free proof-of-concept right now, the community reception is completely unified in singing its praises. It is a stunning testament to what a tiny, dedicated team can achieve when they focus entirely on pure, unbloated fun. Publisher: Wow wow wow. Wow. A free student project that completely captures lightning in a bottle and leaves players completely inspired. I guess we should officially wish these incredibly talented developers the absolute best of luck with the official future release of their full game! Game Designer: We absolutely should, sir! They are going to do amazing things! Publisher: That sounds fantastic. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go flying through some giant glowing neon rings myself.
This is cheap as ♥♥♥♥ in every sense of the word cheap. I got it for free and I'm glad I did, you have to be stupid as hell to buy something as cheap and lame as this is.
