It's been a year since I've seen that one gif of Gold Ship's G1 victory animation and started playing the game, and it still has me hooked. The gameplay loop can get stale at times but it still has me coming back every day. I love reading through every trainee's careers and seeing them grow to overcome their challenges, with some actually coming close to bringing me to tears. That's just how good the writing and music are able to pull of some emotional moments. My only complaints is that the gacha aspect isn't that good, which is a given in gacha games, and it's really hard to recommend the game to people, as the game is gets less and less beginner-friendly as time goes on. The only real way for beginners to get into Umamusume is by paying a ton of money to catch up to the players who started earlier than them, which still isn't enough as anyone can also pay money to get good trainees and support cards to get better Umas. Other than those complaints, Umamusume is an addictive game with heartwarming stories that give the respect and recognition the real racehorses deserve and I'm glad I've started playing it a year ago.
