Recommended I installed this thinking it would be a funny game to try for a few hours. Steam now says otherwise. The gameplay is a constant cycle of planning the perfect training run, watching RNG completely ignore those plans, and immediately starting another career because this one will definitely go better. Sometimes everything lines up perfectly and you feel like a genius. Other times your trainee decides now is the ideal moment to underperform, and your entire season falls apart. The characters are easily the best part. Everyone has their own personality, and it's hard not to pick favorites. Mine is Sakura Chiyono O, and no amount of tier lists is going to convince me to stop using her. Matikanetannhauser is also one of my favorites, and if you know, you know. Meanwhile, Hachimi Tokai Teio somehow lives rent-free in my head. I wasn't expecting a drink to become one of the most memorable things in the game, but here we are. The races are satisfying, the music is great, and the presentation is way better than it has any right to be. The gacha, however, has mastered the art of giving me everything except the one support card I actually want. Somehow this ridiculous concept turned into one of the most polished and addictive games I've played. I still can't explain why it's so fun without sounding completely insane, but after 210 hours I've stopped trying.
