I don't know what happened in 2017 to cause FTP Indie games to be higher quality than some of my paid ones, but this one is fantastic. Perfect addition to the Steam Deck party library. Either way, everything about this game is perfect... I only wish I could have more than 4 players!
A Fun and Competitive Multiplayer Tower-Building Brawler Totemori is a free-to-play local-multiplayer brawler that combines strategic tower-building with competitive gameplay, offering a unique and engaging experience for up to four players. Gameplay and Mechanics: In Totemori, players construct towers by stacking blocks that fall from the sky, aiming to build the tallest structure while attempting to topple opponents' towers. The game offers various modes, including Free-for-All and team-based competitions, allowing players to choose their preferred style of play. The controls are designed to be intuitive, supporting both keyboard and controller inputs. However, some players have noted that the keyboard controls can be challenging, suggesting that using a controller might enhance the gaming experience. Multiplayer Experience: Designed with local multiplayer in mind, Totemori supports up to four players, making it an excellent choice for gatherings with friends and family. The competitive nature of building and sabotaging towers leads to dynamic and often humorous gameplay sessions. While playing against human opponents is highly enjoyable, some users have observed that the AI-controlled bots can be disproportionately difficult, which may affect the overall balance of the game. Visuals and Audio: The game features bright, colorful graphics with a minimalist design, contributing to a lively and approachable aesthetic. The background music is catchy and complements the fast-paced nature of the gameplay, enhancing the overall atmosphere without being distracting. Reception: Totemori has received positive feedback from players, with many praising its fun and engaging mechanics, especially in a multiplayer setting. However, some criticisms have been directed toward the game's difficulty curve, particularly concerning the AI bots, and the control scheme, with a preference for controllers over keyboard inputs. Conclusion: Totemori offers a distinctive blend of strategy and action, making it a worthwhile addition to any gaming session with friends. Its emphasis on local multiplayer and competitive tower-building provides a fresh take on the brawler genre. While the game excels in multiplayer fun, potential players should be aware of the steep learning curve when facing AI opponents and consider using a controller for optimal control.

"Totemori" is an experimental/demo game, a simple playerless "party brawler" where up to four players battle it out in small, low poly arenas to build towers (or knock down towers)... there's not a lot of depth or interest here, but I've seen far worse on Steam. I've also seen far, far better. The developers couldn't work out how to do lobbies, apparently, making this a rather dead concept, you would need to get people to go to your PC to play split screen. How about no, developers should understand that the internet exists and therefore online multiplayer is the only way to do it properly. If you must do PvP instead of content. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. This game is fairly dated at 8 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. Most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's usually some kind of monetisation, from nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, to any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. In terms of public reception, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead.
A nice little local-multiplayer-game, frantic and colorful! It is free-to-play, so grab it! The perfect example for another great multiplayer experience that falls under the steam-radar!
