Tina & Rook! Cookie Quest!

A charming little point&click with a delightful character dynamic! Retro graphics naturally have a lot of charm in the ones of this game are no exception. They might be simple but they have a good amount of personality to them much like the character designs which are equally simple yet reflect the characters’ personalities in the small details, plus the two have very expressive portraits in conversation. There are also a few illustrated moments which have the same cute pixel art style as the rest of the game. There are some grammatical errors that I’m not quite sure if they are intentional speech quirks of the characters or not. Either way they are rather infrequent and even then the text is still readable, so those small errors don’t pose any problems. The main draw of the game is easily the banter between Tina and Rook, which is very adorable and funny. It’s clearly meant for a younger demographic around the same age as the teenage characters, but it’s still enjoyable for older audiences as well thanks to its charm. Although the puzzles pose little challenge, as every item combination and individual step makes sense they are still quite satisfying. Even the ones that require more out-of-the-box thinking have creative logic behind them and thus can be figured easily enough. TLDR: It’s short, it’s charming and it’s free! So it gets a recommendation from me.
