In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.

Not my cup of tea. I strongly recommend you to watch some gameplay before playing. It is also fairly depressing...
game's cool, but it's bugged asf, crashes quite a lot. it's also a bit underwhelming gameplay-wise, especially when it comes to character creation or custom scenarios as a whole. as much as i like the devs, they could've done much better
"In war, not everyone is a soldier." A haunting, unforgettable masterpiece. Most war games put you in the boots of an elite commando mowing down waves of enemies. This War of Mine flips the script entirely, thrusting you into the bleak, desperate reality of ordinary civilians trapped inside a besieged city trying to survive one more day. Brutal Realism & Atmosphere: Every mechanic screams desperation. Starvation, freezing temperatures, illness, wounds, and raiders. The charcoal-sketch aesthetic and melancholic soundtrack capture the grim weight of survival like no other game has ever managed. Gut-Wrenching Moral Dilemmas: This is where the game truly shines. Survival forces you to make terrible choices: Do you steal vital medicine from a helpless elderly couple to save your dying friend? Do you risk your scavenger’s life to stop a sexual assault? Every selfish or traumatic action weighs heavily on your characters' mental states, leading to severe depression, suicide, or mental breakdown if ignored. Pacing and Tense Gameplay: By day, you fortify your shelter, craft essential tools, cook meals, and tend to the sick. By night, you step into the shadows to scavenge ruins, where one mistake or a single shot from a sniper or bandit can permanently end a character's life (permadeath). Artistic & Cultural Value: Inspired by the Siege of Sarajevo, this isn't just entertainment—it is an anti-war statement with immense cultural and educational weight. It shows the true, unromanticized price of conflict paid by the innocent. It is emotionally draining, punishing, and painful to play, yet it is one of the most powerful and empathetic experiences the medium of video games has ever produced. Verdict: 10/10 – An absolute masterpiece and a profound emotional journey.
