Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.

I like building slums and making my sims live in extreme poverty
EA sold out to the dumpster's son-in-law.
Bad Company (EA), bad/Extremely questionable Monetization. The company actively supports people who are against the main demographic of this game, that being minorities. While this might not be maxis it is EA who is doing this, who can say and do anything they want since they are the publishers, and give the people who aren't involved no choice but to follow what they say because that's their boss. I can understand needing money to make things but I don't think anyone should have to spend over 1k USD to be able to have fun, and with some of those basically being real things irl like childhood packs or wedding packs, it all starts to put a bad taste in my mouth. I use to like the sims back when I was young, playing on the ps2. And at this point I would rather play on the ps2 with things lacking then play a game that a majority of the content is locked behind a pay wall with only a couple of things added too. I doubt a majority of it is going to the artists and is going to the greedy people at the top. I dont fault anyone for still playing this game especially if they have already spent so much time and money into it but I can't deal with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ companies like EA anymore. So I wouldnt recommend the game personally. If I want to play a sims game I will play the older ones, less content but better quality when the creatives still had a say.
The hours on here are not accurate, I have had this game for years across multiple platforms, back when Origin was a launcher. This game will squeeze your for every single penny you have, just for a semi decent gaming experience. Greed ruins games.
I am sick and tired of the CONSTANT bugs in this game. The base game is free, but even then, basic features of the base game are broken. I'm not going to mention every single issue here because others already have, but I'll talk about the one that has been causing me the most grief. For at least two months, players (me included) have been dealing with an issue of married sims, for no reason, returning to 'partners'. This can mess with so many features of the game and fixing it in CAS can cause even more issues. First of all, married sims being demoted to partners can lead to one of them trying to propose again. If you don't know any better, you'll click 'Propose', and then you'll have to deal with the bloody marriage rigamorole all over again, which is significantly worsened if you have My Wedding Stories. As we know, that pack is broken to all ♥♥♥♥. If you have Life & Death, this glitch can cause your sim to have the "get married" bucket list item despite ALREADY BEING MARRIED. It gets worse if one sim has "get married" and the other has "renew wedding vows". It's just comical! This is not that hard. Marriage is a crucial part of LIFE, which any LIFE SIMULATOR should be able to pull off. EA, Maxis, you have done it in the past, three times, and you did it a fourth time until you broke it with whatever crappy bug-riddled update you've pushed out this time. You can figure out how to make marriage work again. Play the Sims 4 if you want, but new players need to be informed of the issues this game has, and I recommend you never, EVER sink money into this, even on sale. It's not worth it if the base game can't even function correctly. Get ♥♥♥♥♥♥, EA.
