The Mutational

This game is fine..:)

"The Mutational" is an unusual 2.5D arcade shooter where you just run around and twin-stick shoot stuff, but you can also drop a couple of turrets and stuff. There's nothing amazing here, it's a bit of an obsolete genre. The game lacks polish and there's a few problems getting it to launch, then it runs your system up to 100% (I don't think this is malicious, it's just not optimised). There's a 1990's era military action film kind of look to this but that feels just like a skin on a basic shooter engine. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. This game is fairly dated at 6 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. They have their hand out for a $3 USD "donation" for this as you're expected to give them money from buying empty DLC from Steam... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. No thanks. This "free" game won't count toward your game collection count on your profile. With that in mind, is it something you should still download? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.

Плюсы: Уникальная стилистика — смешение пиксель-арта и 3D-графики; Разнообразие механик — строительство башен и ловушек; Кооперативный режим — игра становится интереснее с друзьями. Минусы: Баги — проблемы с мультиплеером и управлением; Однотипные локации — мало разнообразия в окружении; Сложность управления — неудобный интерфейс некоторых элементов. Итог: The Mutational — для любителей инди-проектов с нестандартным геймплеем. Привлекает оригинальной стилистикой и кооперативным режимом, но может разочаровать багами и однообразием локаций.
