The IOTA Project is a VR game where you are thrown into the cockpit of a giant mech. Pilot IOTA as you destroy the enemies who have taken over the city using your two giant robot fists and an array of powerful weapons. This is a pre-alpha free demo.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. Copies below reflect the player base, not paid sales.

The IOTA Project is not strictly a game. It's an advertisement/"pre-alpha demo" for another, unreleased game. It's a common mistake when unfamiliar with Steam to launch demos/advertisements as full games on Steam instead of tagging them correctly as demos. Here's the instructions for putting a demo up on Steam, to demonstrate that there is a correct process for this, which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos The game this is advertising may never be released, this advertisement having been dumped on Steam 5 years ago, which is probably for the best. The game would have just been a very shallow first person perspective VR exclusive wave survival shooter... ho hum. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game isn't great at all. Imagine a game so bad that it was made VR exclusive, in the hopes that would prevent people playing it and comparing it to professionally developed games. While it might seem like an inocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. At the end of the day, I can only recommend full, correctly published games to gamers. Because this is just an advertisement, and because of the other problems with it, I can't recommend it.

I loaded in with minimal expectations because it's free. Though, I mean, if you dangle the experience of piloting a giant pacific rim robot in front of me. I'm going to be just a little disappointed when the punching doesn't even seem to register most of the time. Awkwardly going "oh, okay, that doesn't work, and then stepping back to go bang bang bang bang bang to stun-lock the other enemies... That's just anti-climatic, man. The most engaging bit was the tutorial when I was literally just walking forward. When walking is the best part, something has gone wrong. It does give me hope for the future though, when hit registration is more reliable and headsets are lighter with better FOV then hopefully we do get something along the lines of Pacific Rim VR.

It's good but i feel like it needs a little bit more work Im using an oculus rift so it might be different for vive but on rift the hands feel like their on the tip of your fingers but i still got over i feel like moving the arms around needs work like sometime i bend my arm and it doesn't bend maybe because im on rift i don't know but all problems aside its good
This is one of the best games I have ever seen and played. The controls are great and it just makes you feel so powerful. While it does get boring after a while one thing always gets me to come back, and that is the cockpit of the mech, no other games I have ever known of use a cockpit like this and I don't know why but it just so cool being able to see your hands inside the mech controlling the hands outside of the mech. I can't wait to see what happens next with this game.
