The early 22nd century began the era of "time travel". At this time, the UN Security Council also created the "Time Bureau", a special surveillance service where employees are required to eliminate anachronisms caused by people visiting past events.

8 Years of Nothing Now an Update Guess what right THE REMOVAL ANNOUNCEMENT, with a
Maximum Discount
of 70%...... https://steamcommunity.com/app/496440/eventcomments/595162055800208536?snr=1_2108_9__2107 for Preservation:
Failed Challenge... Completing the journey of "The Challenge" on STEAM I think the fate of the Early Access for "The Challenge" had been clear to everyone for a long time (by around 2018, there was already almost no chance of survival), but now I finally want to "put a period on it." Why now? I don't know, it's just... the time has come? Exactly 9 years ago, on October 7th, 2016, the first public version of "The Challenge" was published on STEAM. We seemed to have everything necessary for success. A great team: A talented programmer and 3D modeler, who had released many small games on Unreal Engine and wanted to try something bigger. A musician and a professional writer of science fiction. A marketer with experience in released games. We had an interesting idea for a sci-fi plot, where relying on time and space travel made it easy to assemble various locations with completely different settings. We had faith in ourselves and a ton of enthusiasm! With the initial momentum, we put together a small build that, I think, looked great 9 years ago and roughly outlined what we wanted to achieve in the end. The path to success seemed quite realistic, and we had several options to achieve it: 1) Try to secure significant funding for development and advertising from investors. 2) Fund further development by selling the "Early Access" version of the game on STEAM and gradually expanding our game with each new build. 3) Create a KickStarter page, come up with some interesting bonuses for backers, and finance at least part of the development that way. So what could have gone wrong? Unfortunately... everything did. We barely made it to the final showcase before securing investments, but it turned out that the current development stage was too early for them. If I remember correctly, we were offered to try again a year later, but that never materialized. That was probably the most serious blow for us. Simultaneously, the game didn't attract much attention from players on STEAM. And we never even made it to KickStarter in the end. The development team went their separate ways, and everyone moved on to their own things... What happens next? I think the current version of the game will go on one last major sale with the maximum discount, so that everyone who for some reason wants to buy it can do so. After that, we will remove the game's page from STEAM, and the game will no longer be available for purchase. Thank you to the people who participated in the development and helped us. I hope you are fine! Thank you to the players who were interested in the idea and believed in this project. It's sad that it ended this way, but there's nothing to be done now... “The phoenix must burn to emerge.” — Janet Fitch, White Oleander
Dont Buy. https://steamdb.info/app/496440/ Lowest Price still Lower than this "maximum Discount" ________________ now its on Final Sale. Get it now or maybe Never.
The Challenge is an ambitious project from Atum Software and Sometimes You that attempts to merge the allure of time travel with the mechanics of a sci-fi action adventure. Set in the early 22nd century, the narrative presents a world where humanity has not only achieved the impossible but now struggles to regulate it. As a member of the UN-sanctioned “Time Bureau,” players step into the shoes of Maxin Gromov, an agent tasked with preventing the misuse of temporal technology—whether by smugglers sneaking artifacts across centuries or rogue travelers tampering with history itself. The premise is captivating and filled with narrative potential, echoing the kind of speculative storytelling that could bridge science fiction and moral philosophy. Visually, the game demonstrates ambition even in its early state. Built using Unreal Engine 4, it seeks to deliver high-quality graphics and atmospheric environments across multiple historical eras. From the primal landscapes of the Stone Age to the architectural majesty of Ancient Egypt, the variety of locations hints at a grand scale rarely attempted by small studios. Each era presents a unique tone, encouraging the player to experience not just the narrative but the sensory richness of humanity’s different epochs. The idea of traversing ages, blending futuristic technology with primitive settings, provides a thematic contrast that could have served as one of the game’s strongest features if fully realized. Unfortunately, the promise of The Challenge remains largely unrealized due to its incomplete state and developmental stagnation. Released into Early Access, the version available to players feels more like a prototype than a finished product. Many of the features advertised—including multiplayer options, VR support, and additional story chapters—are absent or only partially functional. The gameplay often struggles to balance its ambition with cohesion, resulting in missions that, while conceptually interesting, devolve into simple mechanics and repetitive exploration. Quests that should have been dynamic and reflective of the time-travel concept instead feel linear, with little to distinguish them beyond aesthetic differences between eras. This sense of incompleteness is amplified by technical issues, uneven controls, and a general lack of refinement that hampers immersion. The most disheartening aspect, however, is the halted development. Despite early assurances that the project would expand and evolve with community input, updates ceased years ago, leaving the game effectively abandoned in alpha form. The promised six-to-twelve-month Early Access window turned into silence, and what might have been a promising foundation for a broader narrative adventure now stands as a relic of unrealized potential. For players discovering it today, the experience can feel like wandering through the remnants of an unfinished world—filled with ideas but devoid of polish or direction. Yet even amid its shortcomings, The Challenge offers glimpses of what could have been a remarkable indie project. The story concept—an agent preserving history from within—remains intriguing, and the environmental design occasionally manages to evoke wonder. There’s an earnestness in its attempt to combine speculative storytelling with exploration that gives it a certain charm despite its flaws. For enthusiasts of experimental or early-stage indie games, there’s a fascination in exploring such an incomplete vision, in seeing the scaffolding of creativity even when the building was never finished. Ultimately, The Challenge stands as a cautionary tale about ambition outpacing execution. It presents a compelling world and a creative premise but fails to transform those ideas into a cohesive and satisfying experience. As it exists, it is best viewed as an artifact of what might have been—a bold concept left suspended in time, much like the eras it sought to explore. For players drawn to the aesthetics of unfinished visions or to the curiosity of forgotten indie experiments, it offers a brief, imperfect journey through the fragments of an ambitious dream.
