I wouldn’t crown The Blood of The Dawnwalker my game of the year it for sure is going to end up in my top 10 maybe even my top 5 when the year is all said a done. Coen as a main character I thought was incredibly well done giving off vibes of Geralt in some instances but also just a good guy trying to save his family depending on how you want to play him. I particularly loved the different way that’s you can go about approaching the story and its narrative structure, hell you can beat the game in the prologue if you are able to take down Brencis in an early fight. All the choices and things that you do can help shape your own story and the way that unfold and the way it was able to work was pretty damn impressive. Rebel Wolves have tease that some of these choices and decisions will carry over into future games in the series as they have envisioned this as a Saga which has me even more excited and intrigued to see how they can tie in all of the different plotlines and choices the players have made. So as long as they can take some lessons learned here from the combat, I think the omni blocking and combat is a really cool think but I hope to see a little more variety in the enemy types that we fight in the sequel and some of the moves and abilities that Coen can do. Alongside adding more activities to do in the open world, I also hope they bring back or keep some form of the time mechanic in the sequel as we need more games to try different things with their design philosophy. The performance is something I hope they can squash as well but for a first game from a brand new studio I think they had a pretty solid release here and with over 1 million copies sold in the first 3 days and a very positive rating on steam I things are looking pretty good. So if they can nail this setup and are able to deliver on it moving forward with future games within The Dawnwalker Saga I think Rebel Wolves could position themselves as a key RPG maker in the coming years and one to lookout for in the future.
it fun
This game is really good. I have not finished it but it is already excellent. I have been burnt out on the ubisoft type open world rpg slop the last few years, so i was hesitant to get this. The game runs good, looks good, interesting quests and characters. I never review games because that is what losers do, but had to give them props so i decided to do it.
Best Story driven ARPG in years. The story is great. Graphics are gorgeous. Voice acting is top notch. Music is good and fits the era the game is set in, but I wouldn't have minded a metal track or two for some fights.
Very glitchy, hoping for a patch soon. Otherwise really enjoying it.
