About
You play as Sullivan, a famous, and now retired bounty hunter, known for moon walking while fighting, defying laws of physics with fancy jump moves and air slides, and never backing down from an adversary. You are enjoying retirement, when something unthinkable happens. Henchmen of the feared and powerful cyborg bat pirates steal C.A.T. in an attempt to please their leader, who is fond of collecting all things cute and furry. My friends name is Sullivan so I bought it without looking at it instantly, but I love it graphics and aesthetics are great, gameplay is also great although the controls could use the work and it gets VERY hard in the latter levels
Lost on Steam EP. 21
An unboxing for video games! You can watch the highlights of this game and the two others featured this week here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHYP9sfoZJg This is one of the 3 featured games this week! [Thoughts and First Impressions] The Adventures of Sullivan had originally appealed to me because of the pixel aesthetic and off-the-wall storyline. What I ended up getting was all of that, plus some frustrating gameplay mechanics and overloaded amounts of enemies in the game. Let me talk about the overall first: I got exactly what I wanted in the first two. Great aesthetic and design of the game, the pixel graphics and cheeky humor had me initially extremely interested in playing the game. It's a wacky game, no one is going to argue that, but apart from that positive, I was immediately met with some troubling facets of the game. The first problem was the slightly more than awkward controls and the slide mechanic. You can run, jump and slide. Sounds good on paper but the way it's implemented in the game leaves much to be desired. You have a stamina bar of sorts for sliding that is constantly too low to really use and besides ducking under bullets, serves no other purpose other than laughing as sliding backwards. The intro to the game has a jump that I swear to God is pixel perfect and couldn't be made without sliding FIRST to get enough speed to cover it, but maybe I'm just bad. I never rule that one out. The levels that followed were laden with enemies and monsters so heavily that I just ended up dying repeatedly to enemies that I had a LOT of trouble hitting, mostly because the flying ones are a chore to shoot. Enemies take QUITE a few hits and using the pistol that you have is not a good time. In fact, every time you shoot the pistol you have your screen violently shakes. When you start clicking like mad to kill the enemies it now feels like you're having a seizure. I really wanted to recommend and like this game but at this moment I just cannot. The game, to me, is more frustrating than fun. That could change as you get further into the game, but for now I would have a hard time playing any more of it than I did.
