A tennis game that's not about what happens on the court. It's about being young, not having a care in the world. It's about the adventures with your friends you'll remember for the rest of your life.

"Tennis Story" is a godawfully cringey visual novel/fan-fiction with a badly made tennis game stapled on. What do you do in the game? Plod through lines of extremely cringey high school drama club dropout writing then play one of the worst tennis minigames ever made. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 12 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

10/10 but in the bad way. This is one of the most enjoyable bad game i’ve ever played. Much like this developers first dive into writing and development, this too feels like a game written by a teen who didn’t want to join the tennis team but his parents made him anyway. All that being said, this is an emotional rollercoaster, that is not to be missed. Play this game and regain that sense of wonder that you felt on your first viewing of The Room. There is so much to talk about, but I’ll leave it at this. The developer put a weird amount of heart and soul in this game, despite it being a complete trainwreck, it is a great time. PS: Team Tim all day. Spam Hahacat in the chat for big Tim!
The controls are kinda broken, the pacing and text is extremely slow, and it just feels like a slog to get through even the first cutscene
I appreciate this is probably someone's little project, and it's a free game so you can't expect too much. However, I feel like some of the reviews here are inflated and are probably the dev's friends. There is barely any gameplay and you can skip pretty much the entire game as it's all cutscenes. The story seemed vaguely interesting but I didn't even make it that far into it because the text takes forever to come up on the screen word by word and the only way to speed this up is by skipping the whole cutscene. The graphics are pretty bad even maxed out, but there is some charm to the speech bubble style and the colour pallete. It could really do with some voice acting or something to help you get through the story since reading it is just a drag.
A very wonderful game... Respect
I played this cool game with my brother and we really liked it. our favourite part was when bryan died and when vances mom got hit by a car and also died. would recommend to any tennis lovers.
At a first glance: this appears to be a story-centered game (as given by the title and bubble speech in display screen) with minimal gameplay. Gameplay: The gameplay itself isn't too bad. It's perceptible this was initially designed for console, because your m1 is marked as (A). Your story is dictated depending on if you decide to let the opposing individual win or not. So this adds variety and different endings. Story: The story isn't the best, nor was it the worst. The events that occurred were too fast-paced and the game focused on getting to the main story altering events. This doesn't give enough time for the players to create a personal connection with the characters but nonetheless, the philosophies covered by the Coach had to have been my favorite. This plot will cover concepts such as cheating, death, and value of rational value over personal happiness. Which, for a tennis based game, is intense. Final ratings: Game mechanics: 5.8/10 - I felt as if I simply watched a movie, the game mechanics itself did add value to the story but had me sleeping throughout it. Game design: 8/10 - Yes, this looks like it's been created via ROBLOX, but I feel that the concepts covered had greatly aligned with the choice of imagery. It's a bit of a deception, you expect the story to be funny and goofy, but then have the coach discuss the topic of death. That's the beauty of a deceptive design. Story Pace: 4/10, I appreciate that the creators prioritize the main events, but 30 minutes? Damn, I didn't even finish drink 1/4th of my 20oz pepsi. Too fast, it didn't let me connect with characters. Quite frankly, couldn't even memorize their names the first 5 minutes of the game. Story: 9.2/10 [BIG SPOILER ALERT] - There was a detail in the game where in the beginning, you were doing suicide exercises because a player showed up late, and later in the story: the coach was discussing the suicide of a player with the team. I simply thought that was a very solid connection in the story, and the philosophical topics discussed made it seem far more than just a game about tennis. It's about the values you prioritize in life, even if it's as irrelevant as a high-school sport. I think that's beautiful. I deducted -.8 points because I felt it wasn't fair to deduct so many points again as I already did in a different catergory for the reason being fast paced story. Price: 10/10, it's a free game so that's a given, AND it only takes 20-30 minutes to complete. You don't feel scammed in the long run. Recommendation/Rating average: 27/50 Curvature of rating: +3 + 1 Free game + 1 Personal point + 1 30 minutes of play time Final Rating: 30/50 Recommended.
Интересный факт: помидоры из «Пятёрочки» идеально подходят для игры в теннис.
