TL:DR - A short read {~5 hrs} with limited choice based agency, this feels like a regression after more recent outings into Paradise Cove, but enjoyable none the less. This game is more inline with the more classic paradise cove games, think Model Melissa, Water Girls, Negligee - all choice oriented semi-kinetic novels, and very unlike Maid-Cafe, which had significantly more agency than this outing. The classic sprites are here, and a number of familiar faces from their earlier games in a new combination. For the more animated scenes we can see some new animations, and new imagery coming into play. Very little on the kink side of things, i felt these could be more explored, but it's a relatively short novel, and some kinks kinda need enough time for them to be shown well, tho i was disappointed with Rei's events, the first week her character felt like it was going one way, the weekend hang out didn't really deliver on this, if anything, Stacey was more in line with where I'd've expected Rei On the technical side of things, No game breaking bugs, {as you'd hope from veteran developers} some immersion breaking issues, such as continuity bugs, and some text falling outside the text box, but nothing terrible. Personally i'm hoping this is a filler, and not an indication of future games from this developer, i felt that Maid Cafe has been their peak so far, and sincerely hope that Burlesque is more like Maid Cafe than SwimMeet.
i'm not far in it yet at all, but i feel like - as an author, you have soul. you've experienced what it's like to encounter other people, and what it's like to encounter yourself. you know what it is to feel vulnerable, and you know how to convey relationships that display sexuality *on top of* romanticism and platonic dynamics. that much i can tell by your dialogue. not many spicy dating games have caught the feelings i'm looking for -- especially not any game that hasn't put in the effort to create the art by hand. i came across this game by chance, and i wanted to say that even if you wrote themes about feelings that felt meaningless or inconsequential to you personally, you've captured something that no one else has: the social ability to press deeper at underlying traumas. further, you've written a story with such class that it's damn inspiring.
Swim Meet is a story-focused visual novel developed and published by Dharker Studios that combines elements of romance, sports life, and character-driven drama. Set within the environment of a competitive swim team, the game places players in the role of a young protagonist who becomes involved with a group of talented swimmers while navigating personal ambitions and evolving relationships. Rather than focusing on action or traditional gameplay mechanics, the experience unfolds primarily through dialogue and branching narrative choices. The game’s central appeal lies in its character interactions and the opportunity for players to shape the direction of the story through their decisions. The narrative begins with the protagonist returning to a familiar environment connected to competitive swimming. The team dynamic and training routines serve as the backdrop for most of the story’s events. Through conversations, practices, and social moments outside the pool, the player gradually becomes acquainted with the various characters who make up the team. Each swimmer has a distinct personality, background, and personal challenges that influence how they interact with the protagonist. These interactions form the heart of the experience, allowing players to explore multiple character routes and uncover different aspects of the story depending on their choices. One of the game’s primary themes is the balance between athletic dedication and personal relationships. Swimming competitions, team training sessions, and the pressure to perform well create a setting where ambition and personal feelings often intersect. Characters may struggle with expectations from coaches, their own insecurities, or the emotional complexity of forming connections with teammates. The protagonist’s decisions during key conversations influence how these relationships develop, gradually shaping the direction of the narrative. Because the story emphasizes everyday moments rather than large dramatic events, much of the emotional impact comes from smaller interactions that reveal character motivations and vulnerabilities. Gameplay in Swim Meet follows the structure typical of many visual novels. Players progress by reading dialogue and occasionally selecting from multiple choices that influence how scenes unfold. These choices may determine which characters the protagonist spends more time with, which storylines become available, and ultimately which endings the player receives. The branching narrative structure encourages replayability, since exploring different dialogue paths can reveal alternative scenes and perspectives on the story. While the gameplay itself remains relatively simple, the variety of character routes provides incentive for players to revisit the game in order to experience different outcomes. The visual design adopts an anime-inspired art style that emphasizes expressive character portraits and colorful environments. The characters are depicted with detailed facial expressions that shift during conversations, helping convey emotions and reactions throughout the story. Background illustrations represent locations such as swimming pools, locker rooms, school areas, and casual meeting spots where characters interact. These environments help reinforce the sports-themed setting and give context to the dialogue-driven scenes. Occasionally, the game features special illustrated moments that highlight important story events, adding visual variety to the experience. Audio elements in the game are subtle but effective in maintaining the atmosphere. Background music plays during scenes to match the tone of the story, shifting between relaxed melodies during casual conversations and more emotional tracks during important character moments. Sound effects are minimal, as the focus remains on reading dialogue and following the story. The music primarily serves to support the pacing of the narrative and reinforce the mood of each scene. Because Swim Meet is a relatively short visual novel, its pacing moves quickly compared to larger titles in the genre. A single playthrough can be completed within a few hours, depending on how much time players spend reading dialogue and exploring different choices. While the compact length means the story does not expand into a large-scale narrative, it allows the experience to remain focused on its central cast of characters and their relationships. Multiple endings and character routes provide additional content for players who wish to explore every storyline available. However, the limited scope of the game may leave some players wishing for deeper narrative development or more gameplay variety. The interactive elements remain confined mostly to dialogue choices, and the sports theme serves more as a setting than a fully explored gameplay mechanic. Players expecting simulations of swimming competitions or more elaborate story systems may find the experience somewhat straightforward. Nevertheless, the game’s simplicity also makes it approachable, allowing players to focus on the character interactions without needing to learn complex mechanics. Overall, Swim Meet presents a compact visual novel experience centered on relationships, personal growth, and life within a competitive sports environment. Its anime-inspired presentation, branching dialogue choices, and character-focused storytelling create a narrative that is easy to follow and enjoyable for fans of the genre. While the game does not attempt to reinvent the visual novel formula, it delivers a straightforward and engaging story that highlights the interpersonal dynamics of a swim team and the emotional connections formed along the way. Rating: 6/10
Short and forced story (1 hour per session max). What i mean with session is meeting a new person each time. The choices are limited and are abvious to choose to have special or different cutscenes. If you wanna try this game .. Dharker Studios has way better games . Try negligee for example, great game & story. Best thing about it:
There is a replayability wich makes you have a different date before sunday.
The game is 'Ok'.
