Super Helmets on Fire DX is a crazy side scrolling action platformer game, with lots of nods to old school games, mixed with hardcore runner gameplay and a pinch of RPG lite elements.

TL;DR : This game sucks, don't buy it. Ok so, this game sucks. It really does. The art is really bad, graphist really sucks, the controls are horrible on pc, and my controller was buggy so i had to play with the keyboard. The game design is wrong, you can only jump and glide, and you have to avoid objects on your way, but the the graphisme are so ugly you have to learn which is a wall or a box you can jump on. this causes many problem since either you think its a wall, you take it in the face and you die, either you think its a box, try to jump on it to avoid an ennemy, it wasnt, you die. theres a lot of weird mechanics, that i dont understand but the game is so bad, i dont want to play it anymore. DO NOT BUY IT. I paid 66 cents for this game and i feel stolen.

Super Helmets on Fire DX Ultra Edition Plus Alpha, developed and published by Ripper Games, is a fast-paced 2D platformer that leans heavily into arcade chaos, blending classic side-scrolling design with the relentless momentum of an endless runner. It’s a game that doesn’t aim for subtlety or precision in the traditional sense; instead, it throws players into a constant forward push where reaction time, pattern recognition, and adaptability become the keys to survival. Beneath its deliberately exaggerated title lies an experience that is both energetic and uneven, driven by a strong central idea that doesn’t always fully cohere. The game follows a loosely structured narrative centered on an ordinary construction worker caught in an absurd, time-spanning conflict. The story serves more as a thematic excuse to move between wildly different environments than as a deeply developed narrative, but it does add a sense of progression and variety. Levels take players through a range of settings, each introducing new hazards and visual themes, helping to keep the experience from feeling completely repetitive even as the core mechanics remain largely unchanged. Gameplay is built around constant motion. While it retains the basic elements of platforming—jumping, dodging, and navigating obstacles—it pushes these mechanics into a faster, more reactive space. Players are often required to make split-second decisions as hazards appear rapidly, leaving little room for hesitation. This creates a rhythm that feels closer to an endless runner than a traditional platformer, where success depends on maintaining momentum and reacting instinctively. The difficulty is intentionally high, and the game expects players to fail repeatedly as they learn enemy patterns and level layouts. Layered onto this foundation are light RPG elements that provide a sense of progression. Players can unlock different characters and abilities, each offering small variations in how the game plays. These additions introduce some flexibility, allowing players to experiment with different approaches, but they don’t fundamentally alter the core gameplay loop. Instead, they act as modifiers that can make certain challenges more manageable or encourage different strategies within the same framework. The game offers multiple modes, including a structured progression mode and an endless variant that strips the experience down to pure survival. Procedural elements help introduce some variation between runs, preventing levels from feeling entirely predictable. However, the core structure remains consistent, and over time, the repetition becomes more noticeable. While the increasing difficulty keeps the experience engaging in the short term, it does little to evolve the gameplay in a meaningful way. Visually, Super Helmets on Fire DX embraces a retro-inspired pixel-art style that fits its arcade sensibilities. The environments are colorful and readable, which is essential given the speed of the action, but they lack the detail or distinctiveness that might make them stand out. The soundtrack, driven by energetic chiptune compositions, complements the pace of the game effectively, reinforcing its high-energy tone without becoming overwhelming. The game’s biggest challenge lies in balancing its chaotic design with player control. The emphasis on speed and unpredictability can make it feel unforgiving, particularly in later stages where mistakes are punished quickly. While this level of difficulty will appeal to players who enjoy mastering demanding systems, it can also lead to frustration, especially when combined with moments where the controls or level design feel less precise. The blend of platforming and runner mechanics is interesting, but it doesn’t always feel fully refined, occasionally resulting in gameplay that feels more erratic than intentional. Despite these issues, the game does succeed in delivering a distinct experience within its niche. It captures the spirit of old-school arcade challenges, where repetition and gradual improvement are central to the appeal. Short play sessions work particularly well, as the fast-paced nature of the game lends itself to quick attempts and incremental progress. For players who enjoy high-difficulty platformers and are willing to embrace a certain level of unpredictability, there is genuine enjoyment to be found. In the end, Super Helmets on Fire DX Ultra Edition Plus Alpha is a bold but uneven platformer that thrives on speed and intensity. It offers a focused, skill-based experience that rewards persistence, even if it lacks the polish and depth needed to sustain long-term engagement for all players. It stands out more for its energy and ambition than for its refinement, making it a solid but niche entry in the genre. Rating: 6/10

If you're looking for a review on this game you've come to the wrong place, but if your're looking for an outstanding pie recipe you've come to the right place. Ingredients: 1. 6 tablespoons unsalted butter 2. 1/2 cup white sugar 3. 1/2 cup brown sugar 4. 1/4 cup water 5. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 6. 1 pinch salt 7. 5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced 8. 1 pastry for double-crust pie Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). 2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside. 3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices. 4. Roll out top crust into a 10-inch circle. Cut into 8 (1-inch) wide strips with a sharp paring knife or pastry wheel. Weave the pastry strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold the ends of the lattice strips under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal. 5. Pour butter-sugar mixture over top of pie, coating the lattice, and allowing any remaining sauce to drizzle through the crust. 6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake until the crust is golden brown, the caramel on the top crust is set, and the apple filling is bubbling, 35 to 40 more minutes. Allow to cool completely before slicing.

While there are things to nitpick about the controls (the jumping feels underpowered, for one thing), others have nailed it in their reviews: the big problem with this game is that you can't tell what's background and what's foreground. That's a pretty big problem, takes the fun down several notches, but it's one that can be solved by taking a look at game graphics tutorials online. Lighten the background stuff and darken the foreground stuff. Create a real contrast so we know what we're doing. Also, don't call this a platformer. This is a runner. You have to like runners to like this. "Platformer" implies full control of the horizontal, and for those of us who prefer platformers, it's a bit of a let-down to get the thing we didn't think we were getting. I will check back and update my review if this is taken care of.
