Super Blue Fighter is Herrero Games’ return to Steam following its positively reviewed Job the Leprechaun that was released in August, 2015. Where Job is a well designed casual platformer this time around the developers have opted to develop a simplistic arcade survival game. The object of the game is to hit the right color of the robots to get the maximum score and avoiding the many enemies on the field. The robots that you are to hit are demonstrated by the color of the stars in the background. When they are green you hit the green robots and when they are red you target the red ones. There are a number of different enemy types including the robots of the color that you’re not supposed to hit and the further you advance into the game the more varied enemy types will show up and attempt to kill you. Pros Easy to learn and to play but difficult to master: The game is something that a gamer at all ages can just pick up and play. However, it is more challenging than what it first appears and soon the levels come quick and fast with players having to rely on a combination fast reflexes and even stronger strategy in order to successfully navigate throughout the levels. Smooth gameplay: There are no bugs, no hiccups and nothing else that could be considered to be a negative within the game style. Relaxing and casual: This is the type of game that you can really relax to. With a nice albeit repetitive soundtrack and the aforementioned gameplay you can play this game for short periods in order to relax. Price: The game when not on discount is under $1. You’re going to struggle to find a non-free to play game with as much entertainment value for less. Cons A couple of odd crashes: The game crashed a couple of times during my game play. Neither of the times were during the actual game but when navigating the simplistic menu system. Repetitive music: A little more variety in the soundtrack would have been perfect. What is there is already very, very good. Conclusion Super Blue Fighter was an easy selection for a new entrant on my Steam library’s favorites list. That is just how much I enjoyed this one. It is a game that I know that I’ll return to again and again when I have short periods to play games beyond the scope of this website to enjoy games for my own personal gain without any other thought.
