What a fun way to get really messy with your imagination and have a laugh! Build the Vehicle that you want, the way you want.. then put it to the test against other players and see how well your design goes! Then if all fail.. then back to the workshop and tinker again! The fights are really fun and crazy with each missing parts someone blows off your vehicle either it be a wheel or a turret and soon or later you might just be just shot down to flopping around in a box struggling to survive haha! Each battle you learn how to optimize your vehicle to perform better... either go stealth... defensive .. or just go all out gun blazing and hope for the best! With 2 current modes which consist 2 team of 2 go all out in a Death match or Capture the Base! I can't wait to see what else they can go add to this game!

SteamCraft has found an interesting niche in the vehicle shooter genre. TL;DR: Super fun explodey vehicle combat game at a great price. For those who say this is just a Robocraft or Crossout variant, well it is and it isn't. The similarities are in the fact that they use vehicles that are customizable and players can go shoot each other. Beyond that SteamCraft heads in its own direction ditching the often crisp clean futuristic or grimy post-apocalyptic styling in other games for a very raw steampunk look and feel. There is no pay to win system and everything must be earned. Which feels good. Also I am a sucker for steampunk. In SteamCraft there are two mechanics that add an interesting dynamic to the battlefield, the flipover and the spider. The flipover adds a whole new dynamic to mobility and even attacking. I have used it to get over obstacles and I have used it to peek over terrain to take quick shots at enemies who cannot see me until I am in the air. As for the spider mechanic. Well in a way it is cheap. Hold Q to activate, shift turbo run up and hug an enemy, and left mouse click to victory. There is the cost that your vehicle is destroyed and in capture the base matches this can be a good or very bad thing. In team death match it is way too much fun. But the ability is also easy to shutdown. Destroy the enemy vehicle before they can activate it or shoot the super squishy spider itself. Given time the spider mechanic will be something I can see being difficult to master. At the end of matches both coin and XP is earned. XP allows players to level up which increases the "bar" value one can use. This allows for more stuff to go on your vehicle which can be purchased with the coin you earn. When it comes to vehicle design the only thing that is in your way is your imagination. And of course having enough XP and coin to build what you want. There is one glaring issue I have seen in the game already and that is what appears to be a lack of a reporting system to handle players who AFK in a match. Or in the future if someone is exploiting. Going forward I hope that SteamCraft’s developers Last Level adds more components to the store as well as other maps with additional biome and terrain types. This will allow for even more player creativity and expand the map base giving players reason to create vehicles to may be weak on one map and excel at another. For the price and along with a group of friends I can see countless hours spent designing, customizing, and destroying other player’s vehicles in combat. Plus me personally I cannot get enough of just completely destroying other players vehicles. I sometimes will run in and shoot them dead and other times methodically rip them apart one weapon and wheel at a time leaving other their shell behind. Only then will I deliver the merciful killing blow.

tl:dr not the Robocraft replacement you're hoping for! Things you can excuse for it being new: > Balance just ain't there, boo hoo it'll be a long while before things are figured out. > Not really anything to do > Platooning will crash you more than not platooning > No playerbase, EU and US server typically have 1-3 people each every time I log in. > Buncha' quality of life issues that make manuevering around the battle field and menus a pain Kinda dumb things even for a new game: > The t1-3 wheels don't offer enough clearance so you'll constantly catch on ALL terrain, Really shows they've no interest in the new player experience if the maps aren't meant for them. > The Grind? 10 bucks just to grind, no bonus, no nothing. Ya pay 10usd to play an empty game cuz none of your friends were 'hopeful' enough to pay the entry fee to a game from an un-heard of publisher > You can tell by how things are set up they're prepping the game for a ton of micro transactions, so why not keep it free to play from the get-go? The promising things: > It's a prim and proper unity game, which means it'll be limited in the graphics department regardless, but it looks pretty good as it is > it has an undo button, and mirror buildling outta the bat. I'll excuse a lot for a new game, but there's quite a few things that shows this was rushed to meet a deadline and it feels like they're only charging money to help with an ill advised high-interest loan they took out. Show's a lotta care, lotta promise but at the same time shows the same signs of 'ded gaem' that I've seen over my excessively long gaming career.
Like oldschool robocraft...ish Well worth the money
