Good story, gameplay is similar to XCOM but slightly less depth and difficulty. Heard some had performance issues but I've never encountered them.
GOOD
Firaxis-style XCOM strategy + BioWare RPG Narrative Quality + Star Wars IP = This
It's a pretty good tactics game, it's not great yet but I think it could be with patches and DLC. It looks stellar. The base building/upgrade and character class progression systems are serviceable but lack the sauce that make XCOM EU & 2's progression so addicting. The story is okay, you have some really interesting companion characters on your ship that the game unfortunately doesn't really let you talk to. I wished for a Mass Effect dialogue wheel that would let me ask Trick what was the nastiest mess he cleaned up when he was a janitor on Kamino. Hawks is an entertaining protagonist and customization for your operators is cool, it's a little heavy on clone armor for my taste but I bet it's fire for people in the clone fandom. There are some clear issues like overwatch not always triggering correctly and hair not appearing on clone operators. I hope that the devs let their employees come back to work to give it the post-launch TLC it needs.
This game has a great story and a lot of details if you know Star Wars Lore, small hints and such to outside events. It has a good tactical combat system, though it tends to just idle/get stuck sometimes randomly between some interactions when in combat missions. I've heard about combat soft-locks but I've only experienced it once which was in the final battle. A quick combat load prevented loss of progress but it's still worth to mention. I do have one jest with the game and that's the fact there isn't an "endless" mode when it comes to doing missions and upgrading the ship and pretty much maxing stuff out which can eventually lead to higher difficulty along the line. That would be genuinely really fun rather than replaying a whole new campaign even if the story is good. It's still going down as one of the most awesome Star Wars games since Star Wars Jedi games and Battlefront Games that I've seen and played.
Great game! Awesome music, voice acting, story. etc. It was a total surprise. I hope to see more of Zero Company.
Yes
Best star wars game... aside from republic commandos.
Bit Reactor has knocked it out of the park. My only complaint is that it had to end—though with 200 hours down, I'm more than ready for a New Game Plus mode, a massive expansion, or a full sequel. I can safely say this is one of the most engaging gaming experiences in years. Bit Reactor poured absolute heart and soul into this project, and it shows in every single frame. The voice cast delivers performances that make you genuinely care about the fate of everyone on screen. In an era where AAA gaming prices are skyrocketing for half-baked experiences, it delivers an astronomical amount of content, polish, and a small amount of replay ability that leaves other full-price titles in the dust. While not perfect, no game is, I highly recommend for any star wars or turn based strategy fan.
