Star Speeder is an arcade racing game. The game doesn't really have any physics or anything, you can drive faster, jump and move sideways that's it. Honestly, it's not that good of a 'game' but it's a fun challenge. It's just way too simple and minimalist in general. The music is basic techno/electronic music, but it fits the game well and there's more than one track, which is rare for these types of games. Not an overwhelming positive review, but for the price, it's fun.
Star Speeder is yet another of several hundred, if not thousands of garbage low effort endless runners plaguing Steam. This one has low poly minimalist "art" and you need to jump as well as move left or right, giving it a kind of platformer element, but that's all there is to it. This looks like it was copy + pasted from a Unity endless runner tutorial. This is shallow compared to other endless runners, even the free mobile apps. Remember, the developer wants your money for this. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy minimalist/untextured low-polygon "retro" assets and visuals, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. The lack of textures is a method that lazy devs often use to disguise their lack of talent/interest in doing the graphics properly and trying to disguise it under the name of "art", or "We made it look bad on purpose", which really isn't something gamers should have to put up with. It's unclear why the developers weren't willing to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets and high resolution textures for the game. It looks bad as a result of their decisions, and that's just another reason to avoid it. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The very poor quality of this game puts it squarely on-par with ancient 1990's Flash/Java games, and given it's 2023 (and this was released not so far back in 2018), gamers and the industry expect and deserve better than this kind of low effort shovelware. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Star Speeder is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
Actually pretty fun
Don't be fooled by the price tag: This game is awesome. Possibly the most fun I've gotten out of a 99 cent game.
A simple and fun runner game-- you drive on the track until you crash or fall into a pit, jumping over obstacles as you go. It's trickier than you might expect, and the achievements are just difficult enough to be satisfying.
Bon petit jeu de plate forme, globalement assez fun, compter +/- 30 min pour le 100%.
Fena değil.
Physics for the game unfortunately are not quite there. Highly skill dependent to get all the achievements.
