A great game! I liked the setting, the combat. The story is also interesting, keeping me hooked on the game. Without a decent storyline I quit games quite fast. :D I'm already hyped for the next two games which are anounced for 2024! :)
Very cool sci fi space JRPG that you will most likely enjoy so pick it up. Here's my first look at the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9d49aQ7Wpo
Similar to the previous installment, the game is a fun, engaging, classic JRPG flavor but with a decent sci fi story and an interesting combat system. I appreciated that the 'dungeons' in this installment were shorter and more sweet. JRPG combat is a chore at the best of times, and this knew when to move things along. That said, I felt that some things could have been improved: You spend more time shopping to outfit your 7 member party that the game almost feels like it's a shopping simulator. Why can't you see what equipment your charaters have while comparing what the vendor is selling is a mystery. Yes it shows you how the stats would change, but I can't remember if party member #5 of group 2 has an antimatter rifle or a graviton pistol without backing out to look. Repeat this for 10-12 pieces of equipment for each party member and it becomes more than an inconvenience. For all the time you spend shopping, this would have been a significant quality of life improvement. Would recommend, looking forward to next installment.

Not usually a fan of Sci Fi because i dont think the genre looks good... but this game looks awesome. The cutscenes are great. The story ended up being so much better than what i expected at first. I found myself laughing at many of the jokes too. The cliffhanger at the end has me invested in the series. The battle system is pretty good too. I would recommend this to anyone who likes RPGs and/or Scifi genre. And even to the rest of players, i would say, give this a try.
I apologize for the late review on Steam as I already did a first impressions type review on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Z-j6nCHXTXQ I want to recommend this game but with a strong caveat: you need to be into JRPG/RPG Maker style combat. I say that because compared to a lot of those types of games out there, this is way more interesting. It still has a lot of the same issues, though. Comparing this game to all games on Steam, however, is where it falls short. I personally don't see myself playing more of this versus my massive backlog of great games. I just don't have the time! Anyway, here's a pro's and con's to wrap this up faster: Pro's: - Story isn't a generic JRPG where you play as some teen doofus and collect elements and use the power of friendship. You don't fight level 1 slimes and bats for hours, either - Lots of scripting and use of visual storytelling. It's not just back and forth faces talking! - Lots of drama and worldbuilding. And not lame JRPG worldbuilding where they're like "Here's the ninja town" or stupid cutesy stuff - People die! Violence is fun! - Skill trees and lots of equipment that makes for more system design that a lot of RPG Maker games have none of Con's: - Combat is extremely volatile. I'm pretty sure the harder difficulties are only possible with rampant save scumming due to bad rolls vs good rolls dictating your success - Combat has a lot of STUFF but is ultimately very simple - Stats are under-explained - Art is very inconsistent - Writing overuses ellipses in place of creative use of punctuation to emulate speech patterns
Enjoyed it so far. It's been a long time since a game has made me want to read the dialogue and exposition seriously. This game takes itself very seriously and I appreciate that for the sci-fi setting. Except the tactical ship battles. Luckily, it is possible to skip them lmao.
Не фанат таких игр, но в сюжет затянуло с первых локаций Олдскульный геймплей JRPG с пошаговой боёвкой Качественный проработанный мир, сделанный с любовью Если вы фанат жанра и космоса, то рекомендую
Much about what made Star Shift Origins is present here in Star Shift Rebellion. Same systems, same graphics, same mechanics. While a sequel, it is not one that switches things up like many others out there that add in a new mechanic or throws in a different leveling or skill system. The first thing anyone is going to notice and speak out about is the use of AI in this game, just like in the previous game. Yes, it uses AI primarily for art when it comes to a number of characters and with making some of the javascript plugins. And while I will continue to not like the use of AI, I separated my dislike from this review and playthrough. There is still a small complaint about the lack of tutorials when it comes to skills and getting setup at first, and with the game being longer that the previous one, it can sometimes become a little tedious dealing with the skill tree for 7 party members. Having to go through and check each one's skills and abilities to see if you have enough points for something or if you missed a critical skill. Combat has not changed from the previous title of Star Shift Origins and there is an interesting bug where your counter ability may go off on an ally. However, the developer is working to fix that. At least the developer is constantly going back to fix bugs or to expand on different portions while also working on future titles, it is nice to see that they do take feedback well. Beyond this the music is good and is nice to listen to, even to just kind of vibe to with it in the background. It is definitely fitting with the more rave/sci-fi sounds for the most part, even in some battles or the casino lounge that makes me still question if androids dream of electric sheep. This game is definitely packed with much more lore and information. You get a nice look into how a number of the different alien species came about, where it turns out that some are not really aliens, but animals that were elevated to sentience. Gameplay wise it does alternate between being a traditional RPG with an ATB and your party versus the enemy party, and a tactics style game depending on what the story requires. This is an interesting twist, and does help as it flows well with what the story needs. Overall, this game gets a 4 out of 5 and a request to hire an artist.
In short, this game is full of charm if nothing else. A bit rough around the edges but early on I'm still finding myself wanting to continue on.
