Star Crusade: War for the Expanse is a free-to-play, online, digital collectible card game (CCG) based in a richly styled sci-fi universe, where each player takes command of one of the six factions vying for supremacy in an unclaimed exotic sector of space.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. Copies below reflect the player base, not paid sales.
Warning: Microtransaction infested mobile app
Star Crusade CCG is one of thousands of nasty mobile apps infesting the "free" section of Steam, but it's not really free. There's only a superficial "game" here. This is a weak and largely failed ripoff of games like Magic The Gathering and Hearthstone, a mobile centric CCG/deckbuilder with unengaging mechanics, but there's a reason the game itself is so lacklustre. It's just a veneer wrapped around a nasty, predatory mobile app cash shop. The true purpose of this mobile app is to get you to hand your credit card details to the greedy mobile devs so you can buy stuff in the nasty cash shop... it's a mobile app cash harvester, and has no place in your game library. On pricing and value for gamers, this isn't really free as the game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this. There's also an eye watering ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN UNITED STATES DOLLARS worth of mobile scam P2W DLC packages... there's simply no limit to the morally bankrupt greed of mobile app devs. Fine, nobody cares what happens to mobile peasants, they made poor life choices and aren't enjoying the wonders of PC gaming. But when mobile devs decide to bring that crap to Steam, that's when we as gamers need to take things personally. This kind of mobile crap has no place in your Steam library. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
