Hi, I'm Chaomoon! For 8 years (from 2016 to 2024), I developed Soul's Remnant alone as my passion project. Over years of hosting public playtests, the game developed a community of dedicated players, and grew to be something larger.
Now, working towards bigger and better versions of the game, the team has expanded, with Rajah joining the team since 2025 to help with future updates and development!

Community feedback has always been a crucial part of Soul's Remnant's development, so feel free to join our community and leave feedback for us, as we continuously work towards making the game even better!

I've been wanting a game like this for so long due to games like MapleStory being absolutely packed with micro-transactions and I didn't want to support that due to how greedy it felt to lock game content behind a paywall. Upon starting the game I found that there were virtually no character customization options available at the beginning. The game said that the other customization options were available later in the "Cash Shop" which I was hoping would use some sort of currency that you could gain solely by playing the game. Unfortunately I quickly found out that the Cash Shop is absolutely packed with cosmetics and different tiers of game pass subscriptions that all have to be purchased with real money. I appreciate that this game is free but, to be honest, I would have rather paid for the game up front and been able to earn all of the cosmetics through gameplay instead of being forced to spend real money to make my character look cool. Edit: Also, for cool games like this I would even be willing to pay a monthly supporter subscription of a few dollars to help with server costs because certain games like this one feel truly special but the magic goes away for me when I'm presented with micro-transactions (cosmetic-only or otherwise). Text below here is entirely my opinion instead of facts based on this game or developer in any way. As an indie game dev myself, micro-transactions in games these days leave me with an ick that makes me feel as though the developers of said games are in it mainly for the money and especially so if the base game is "free to play". Most games that were new when I was a kid didn't have all of these predatory sales practices. Case in point I've seen with games like Fall Guys for example: Game gives the player virtually no cosmetics and no real way to make the player feel unique or expressive BUT the player can easily get that by spending real money. Then, those that don't have money to spend and/or don't want to spend money on a game they already own feel pressured into buying the cosmetics because other players have them. They lure players in with the game being free and then you realize later on that the full game experience isn't truly free. I cannot recommend a game that has micro-transactions in it, no matter how fun it may be. Let me buy the game and then leave my wallet alone.

Wow that was only 2 hours of my life? That felt like so much more... This is Maplestory................... if you dont remember what Maplestory was like. Its just endless fetch questing against blah sprites without any soul to them really. I think the level of pixelation in this game is really to its detriment. A lot of the enemies you fight just feel like generic blobs, and they dont really do anything interesting except slowly waddle towards you with ever increasing hp inflation. Yes that sounds like old Maplestory so far, I get that. But Maplestory had something more, it had soul. Especially in its music! This game has multiple sound tracks but it sounded like only 1 was playing 90% of the time. It also has this god awful sound everytime a crystal hits the ground, and I dont think it was limited to just my own crystals but EVERY crystal that anyone dropped! Sound Design is important, and this game misses it by a mile. At first I thought this was kind of cool, because there did seem to be some really free form variety for builds. And I can definitely see the potential in this, I dont think the skill tree is actually bad.... unbalanced? You betcha. I decided to go for a magic tank sort of setup... I say tank but all of my buffs were still damage buffs that even the DPS would of taken, but anyway. This setup was kind of cool because I had the ability to easily refresh my magic shields but beyond that, I used the same skill for almost that entire 2 hours hitting a maximum of TWO enemies at a time. Meanwhile half of the people around me are blasting entire platforms off the face of the planet with bow skills and what looked to be the Priest skills. As you can see by the start of this review............................. this was boring! Two hours? You could of convinced me if you told me I was playing for 6, that was such a slog.

Here is my review of this game: The gameplay itself is excellent, and the skill system is very well-designed. It’s honestly more fun than MapleStory, though it still needs more endgame content. However, the game has been completely ruined by mismanagement. The devs apparently hired their admin team from DC (Discord). These admins don't think about the game's long-term development, lack the capability to manage the overall game environment properly, and are heavily driven by personal emotions. Since late August, there has been a massive wave of account bans that is still ongoing. It started because the game was invaded by bots, but the admins' response has been terrible: players get banned based purely on the admins' subjective suspicion of being bots, RMTers, or cheaters, regardless of whether they actually violated any Terms of Service. This has led to a huge number of wrongful bans. Worse, when you submit a ticket to appeal, they refuse to provide the specific reason for your ban. Whether your account gets unbanned is entirely up to the whim of this terrible admin team. On top of that, higher-level characters and top-ranked players seem to be specifically targeted. Some IPs have even been directly targeted. For example, the #1 ranked player was banned despite having no TOS violations. Although they eventually got unbanned after submitting a ticket, they had already lost their top spot on the leaderboard. The player count has plummeted from a peak of over 6,000 to just over 1,800, and it will likely keep dropping. Based on all this, I do not recommend playing this game. It’s not because the gameplay is bad, but because it has the absolute worst operations and management team. If you're willing to risk having your account banned at any point during your endgame progression, then go ahead and try Xd.
You have to solve a captcha in game every 5-10 minutes or so or you no longer gain xp or drops. No that's not a joke, solving captcha's is a core game mechanic.
Positive: I haven't been banned yet for going afk (I also afk away from enemies). Not so positive: If you are on a controller, the beta is very much so beta. It lacks a lot of QoL functionality, like sane inputs for the skill menu (It is hard to get the input you want), the ability to toggle your hotkeys instead of having to hold to use a different set, the ability to not trigger a map change when you open your menu and try to look at the map, the ability to click certain buttons on the map, etc. One thing that could be changed would be chords. Perhaps a button chord (such as down on joystick + the trigger buttons) to swap skillsets or equipment would be useful? The gameplay isn't that interesting either. You basically just fight against other players for monster kills. That is the entire difficulty of the game in a nutshell. Other players are competing for the same resources. You often have players that are clearly overleveled one-shotting entire maps in moments, forcing you to keep changing channels until you find a map that isn't having that issue. Note: There is no guarantee that there will be a channel without the farming issue. You can also have the issue where harvesting sometimes is a bit odd where it might harvest a further node than you are at if the nodes are close enough together. Annoying if you are looking for a specific node or a node spawns near a portal/secret entrance. Players can hide or obscure important elements like the chest in the spawn or certain NPCs (especially if the player is new). There does not seem to be anything that prevents players from placing shops near important elements as long as it doesn't cover the element, which can be confusing for newer players who might think an NPC is a shop + player. Another annoyance is that if you are gathering instead of trying to compete for loot, semi-random boss spawns disables gathering mode. Especially annoying on controller since it is a whole process to switch skillsets and you might not have time for that in some situations. This matters because if the reports are true that people are getting banned for going afk near enemies, this is probably why: They switch to gathering mode when something happens and then get kicked out of gathering mode when a boss spawns. Mixed: The loadouts for equipment is essentially a new inventory. This is good for holding more items, but also kind of bad for if you want to have similar loadouts except for maybe a change of a weapon. I get that they need to make money, but it is annoying to have inventory space as shop items. Not sure if there is any way to get these in game.
建議別浪費錢在這個遊戲上面,有點類似私服,他們想封鎖就封鎖。
Good game, if you enjoy gambling, not with money or in game item's stat, but to see whether the devs feel like banning you for fun.
This game is ok ish , nothing amazing . Did not long enough to learn everything but from what I have experienced its enough for me to make the review . To much going on the screen , UI is absolutely clattered with junk and notifications . Lack of gear of any kind at your level , completely 0 information at what level map you are on and what type of mobs you are fighting . Game is full of bots right after tutorial area , 3-4 bots sits in several spots on the map and killing entire map of mobs with massive aoe attacks so you as a new player already have no chance to kill whatever amount you need to progress . Lack of any story or sense of progression , from to quest to quest you seems to get more and more mobs to kill, and all you get is a bit exp and gold , 0 gear to get you going . Game become repetitive very fast and therefore very boring . Toxic and rude community . Completely pointless to ask anything in the chat , they laugh at you and call you names just for fun without helping at all - I have checked this on 5 different account just to be sure , and on 5 different occasions happened the same thing , you ask a question and they call you an idiot or worse and tell you f off . Avoid at all cost .
