Hi, I'm Chaomoon! For 8 years (from 2016 to 2024), I developed Soul's Remnant alone as my passion project. Over years of hosting public playtests, the game developed a community of dedicated players, and grew to be something larger.
Now, working towards bigger and better versions of the game, the team has expanded, with Rajah joining the team since 2025 to help with future updates and development!

Community feedback has always been a crucial part of Soul's Remnant's development, so feel free to join our community and leave feedback for us, as we continuously work towards making the game even better!

這遊戲開發者會偷改機率跟技能,而且都不會公告,被玩家抓包就說玩家在霸凌他,DC裡面一堆騎士團在護航,跟私服沒兩樣建議別浪費錢再這遊戲上
Developers that hate their playerbase should never be supported.

Incredibly apparent that Maplestory is a major source of inspiration for this game. God willing maybe we'll finally have a Maplestory-like that is not managed by some of the most greediest scum on the planet
Really enjoying this game... it's just like MapleStory but better. Really good so far. Also if you are waiting for MapleStory Classic... just play this! 9/10
Title: A Monument to Institutional Malice, Toxic Incompetence, and Betrayed Devotion: The Absolute Extinction Event of Soul’s Remnant I used to believe in this project with every fiber of my being. That unwavering, misplaced faith is now my deepest, most agonizing, and most humiliating wound. I didn’t just play Soul’s Remnant; I consumed it, breathed it, and sacrificed thousands of waking and sleeping hours to its pixelated corridors, treating its grueling grinds and systemic imbalances as a sacred second home. I spent years defending the developer's glacial update cycles, actively rationalizing their glaring mechanical oversights, and aggressively dismissing the dark warning signs whispering through the community as the mere whining of disgruntled casuals. I was a foot soldier of a cult-like devotion, utterly convinced that this was a world crafted by independent creators who understood the fragile, beautiful bond between an indie developer and a passionate player base. How intensely, unforgivably, and pathetically foolish I was. What the public sees on the store page is a nostalgic, charming indie MMORPG—a modest pixel-art passion project born from years of solitary work by a developer claiming to channel the golden age of classic social online gaming. But beneath that paper-thin, calculatedly deceptive facade lies a predatory, aggressively hostile ecosystem designed to exploit your time, weaponize your passion, harvest your free community labor, and ultimately punish you for the singular crime of actually engaging deeply with their endgame loop. The harsh reality of Soul’s Remnant isn't a love letter to the genre; it’s an institutionalized insult, a middle finger to anyone foolish enough to invest hundreds of hours into its structurally hollow and fundamentally broken framework. Let’s pull back the curtain and talk about the unspoken horror that haunts the upper echelons of this game: the arbitrary, indiscriminate, and utterly cowardly ban hammer that targets the most dedicated, high-level players the moment they scrape past level 90. For weeks, the veteran group chats whispered about it in paralyzing dread. High-level players—the exact backbone of the economy, the people organizing multi-party dungeon runs, keeping multiplayer queues alive, and filling the community forums with helpful guides—would vanish overnight. Their names were silently scrubbed from leaderboards, their chat histories vaporized, and their profiles locked behind an impenetrable wall of developer silence. I scoffed at the victims. I arrogantly told myself that I played completely legitimately, that hundreds of hours of honest grinding, meticulous resource management, and raw persistence would serve as my shield. Then my inevitable turn came. At level 96, deep inside a high-tier dungeon I had farmed a thousand times for an elusive, mathematically insulting rare drop, the screen seized violently. The dreaded, ominous red warning flashed across the UI, followed instantly by a forced, unceremonious disconnect to the title screen. My hands shook uncontrollably as I scrambled to re-enter my credentials, hit enter, and was greeted by the most infuriating, gut-wrenching, soul-crushing message any gamer can possibly receive: “Account permanently suspended.” No warning. No specific rule violation cited. No log data provided. No human review whatsoever. Just an abrupt, summary execution carried out by a completely inept, automated detection algorithm that apparently cannot comprehend the basic reality that a human being might actually want to play an MMORPG for more than two hours a day. If you dare to actually play their game, to push past the lazy mid-game wall, and dedicate real, unbroken hours to mastering the convoluted skill trees and grinding endgame bosses, their broken, hair-trigger security protocols automatically flag your sheer dedication as anomalous cheating behavior. They don't want you reaching the summit because they either haven't built a functional, stable endgame to sustain high-level players, or they are utterly terrified of what veteran players discover when the illusion of depth is finally pulled back. And when you turn to customer support for even a shred of recourse or human dignity? Prepare to crash headfirst into a brick wall constructed entirely of corporate apathy, cowardice, and condescension. I poured my bleeding, broken heart into a meticulously written support ticket—detailing my exact playtime, my absolute adherence to fair play, and my profound, heartbreaking disappointment. Within minutes, I was hit with the exact same robotic, copy-pasted wall of garbage text that every single banned victim receives: "Your account has been flagged for abnormal activity. This decision is final." No appeal process. No human being willing to look at your case, check your server logs, or grant you basic respect. Just a cold, algorithmic middle finger from developers who happily take the community promotion, the active player counts, and the free labor of their base while treating us like disposable trash the moment an automated script misfires. The silence from the development team is deafening, pathetic, and entirely telling. They hide behind automated systems because facing the human wreckage of their broken anti-cheat and abysmal game design requires a spine they simply do not possess. The technical and design state of the game outside of these tyrannical bans is an absolute disaster anyway, propped up by pure sunk-cost fallacy. The economy is a chaotic, hyper-inflated mess dictated by exploiters who somehow bypass the very detection tools meant for honest players. High-level combat balancing is practically non-existent, featuring lazy stat-check bosses that demand artificial difficulty rather than tactical engagement. The repetitive grind quickly morphs from a nostalgic throwback into an unrewarding, punishing, soul-crushing chore. Every single system feels half-baked, held together with digital duct tape and the nostalgic goodwill of players who desperately want it to succeed, only to be brutally kicked in the teeth the second they cross the finish line. My level 96 character—complete with painstakingly optimized builds, hard-earned rare equipment, hundreds of hours of irreplaceable memories, and genuine friendships forged in party chats—was erased in a single, callous click. All of it gone, vaporized into the ether by developers who couldn’t care less if every single veteran player walked away. If you are a new player currently looking at this store page, reading the glowing early access promises, or thinking about downloading this free-to-play trap: Stop. Do not install it. Do not give them your metrics. Do not invest your time, your energy, or your passion into a digital world that fundamentally despises its own community. Play literally anything else. Because if you actually stay, if you actually grind, and if you dare to love this game too much, the only reward waiting for you at the top is a permanent ban screen and a developer who refuses to look. Soul’s Remnant isn't just another failed indie experiment; it is a meticulously constructed psychological trap for the devoted and an eternal monument to bad-faith development. Save your time, save your sanity, protect your peace, and stay far, far away from this toxic wasteland. It stands as a profound, unforgivable insult to anyone who ever believed that passion, time, and genuine emotional investment in a virtual world would be met with anything other than cold, mechanical betrayal. Every single pixel of this fraudulent project bleeds contempt for its player base, transforming what should have been a nostalgic sanctuary into an aggressive vacuum designed to chew you up, harvest your dedication, and spit you out the moment you look behind the curtain. Do not let the charming exterior fool you; beneath the surface lies a rot so complete that downloading it is nothing short of an active act of self-harm
If I never had played this game and started from now, then I'd wish negative reviews to persuade me not to, this only cause from recent changes to a certain mechanic, and lack of in others, and how I see the game state potentially progress to. The main reason comes surrounding the main way a player gets stronger, equipment - the overall way to boost it and make it actually useful comes from the enchantment system, a system that ends up being needlessly tedius, long and annoying, gameplay that comes from it will be you clicking your LMB for minutes or even hours in a row long rolling echantments (literally cookie clicker). There's basically no chance you'll ever find comparatively good equipment just from killing mobs/bosses/or doing quests, you will have to interact with the echoes system (the enchantments). The saving grace of the game is 1 item, Transitive souls, these allow you to mostly still have to interact with the enchantment system for like 5-20 hours on early to mid game BUT after that made you be basically settled for your entire leveling experience on the enchantment part, on that time you'd hit your pieces, get the dopamine hit, them move on from messing with that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ system. BUT, they recently hard nerfed its drop rate, while not including reasoning behind it or mentioning it on patchnotes. Ontop of this the weekly quest reward for mid to late game players went from giving out 5 of these souls, to 3, to now 0 - to me it would only be accurate to assume that the trend will keep it gimped, meaning barely any access to them for new players in a reasonable way that I personally got to experience. Accessing these in the marketplace will be around 15x to 2x more expensive for new players then it was before these changes (It used to be 200k, when I started using them they were around 1M, and now rn they are 2M-3M), this also combines with another big issue, there are 0 money sinks outside of equipment, players that got play on early stage of game release are way way past making their enchantments since it was easier AND there was an economy from people still playing through the content, so you won't be finding useful and affordable gear circulating for early to mid game players if you are new. A new player interacting with this system will have to spend around 5x-10x more resources, time spent on not leveling and therefore not progressing through content. Transitives are a bandaid for a bad system, before removing or nerfing it, the enchantment system would need to get QoL changes or an overhaul to make it to be more enjoyable and less grueling if new players are forced to interact with it even more than we did, also maybe massively buffing enchanted equipment drops from normal killing monster gameplay, I'm playing a grindy game and there's barely any potential dopamine item drop from actually grinding away killing mobs and leveling up, 95% of the worthwile things you'll use are either bought and crafted/enchanted manually :c (The like only wearable equipment that could excite you if it drops is Thievery Aura, I sure as hell never got to experience that dropping, had to buy that) Even though what I said above alone would makes me not recommend this to others, there's still some other minor bad stuff: - Real players get punished with intrusive mechanics integrated into gameplay that work as bot prevention, CAPTCHAs and AFK detection activates after 6 seconds of standing still, get used to moving around, not to dodge enemies, but to not be recognized as a bot, wanna stand still and hack away at the bosses hp until your dps gets the job done? No can do boss, get to dancing or the game makes you do 0 dmg cause of AFK detection, of course these will be of 0 hindrance to actual bots. - There's alot of skills and buffs that seem to reward playing support for a party, but there isn't actual proper EXP share to make it playable. You can be making people invincible or having them deal 2x-3x dmg, and still get literally 0 EXP in return, the amount of skills designed into playing support IS there, yet it's not actually playable? It's bizzare, they seem to touch exp share every other patch but it never makes supporting get any exp. - Not directly dev's fault but there is a downward trend of active playerbase, it would still be a decent experience singleplayer wise if Echoes system was not the worst thing ever, but that's not the case, you will need to buy from others. - Leveling progression in this game is extremely botched cause from 1-52 changing map from map you are experiencing different maps/content/enemies and killing things around 5 level away from you, likely only 20% of your entire leveling journey and it's fun, and then BOOM around lvl 53 the only optimal maps for exp or money is like 4-5 options, not the worst, lvl 60 is the last time you'll see meaningful change on your skills, you reached lvl 70? There's only 1 map you'll be farming exp on a good rate, enjoy spending the rest of your 70% leveling experience staring at the same exact enemies and map. - Nothing will ever challenge the players input, it's a brainless grind through and through, hold your combo button and move around killing mobs, bosses and raids aswell you don't have to do anything fancy to beat them, you'll be fine aslong as your monitor is on. The game DOES good things, and even positive post launch changes (like removing leeching ways), but the negatives don't seem like they'll be fixed/changed anytime soon and overshadow completely anything good that would warrant me to recommend this game to others atm, Transitives are a required bandaid for the game, fixing the real problem behind that bandaid is a worthile endeavour for future content and even a new players experience, it's such a weird mix of good faith and bad faith I get from the changes to Transitives, they are obviously aware of the tedious system and how a player can skip it, but also do a hasty worst possible choices to affect it... At the end of the day, I'd absolutely not have went above like 20 hours of playing if it wasn't for accessible Transitives souls.
Developer has been making silent changes to the game without any form of annoucement or heads up. Major silent nerf - Removal of transitive soul from weekly abyssal reward (transitive soul is used to transfer stats from equipment to equipment) - Changes to how exp distribution works (changed multiple times, some times without annoucement, even when there was annoucement, it was vague like exp "improvement" Another major issue is the silence or non communication from the developer regarding most bugs. Some skill cooldown has been bugged for weeks and has been reported on the official discord, there was no acknowledgement, or bug fixes regarding it. Literally a major bug but the developer choose to ignore and release steam trading cards instead. (Really shows what the priority of the devs are. I get it if its a huge team that each have their own role but this game only has 2 developers and limited resources) One of the developer has mentioned on discord that they can do whatever they want to the game on discord. Indeed they can, like thanos snapping transitive souls from abyss reward without communication, writing patch note that includes "many bug fixes" which does not list out what is being fixed and skill duration is still bug btw. 100% will not recommend this game to anyone because the developer can do whatever they want without considering about the ecosystem, like making exp changes when there is a leaderboard for highest exp in skill level, removing transitive soul causing the price to increase from 300k to 2.4m each.
I basically got stopped and frisked lol. No botting - just grinding as normal and out of nowhere im teleported to jail.. no one said anything to me. 30 seconds later i'm teleported back to the map where i was grinding. I love the game but not sure if its something i want to continue playing if it means im going to be watched from the shadows at all times.
Incompetent Dev. Got Banned for "Botting" simply because i was Fishing non stop for about 10 hours. I have a Quadruple Screen setup, with an Extra Laptop on the side, So i am always doing multiple things on my PC. And, Since this game is just a 2D MMO and isn't that CPU consuming, i always leave it running while playing other games or working. There is a special No-Mob map called Oasis, i just stay there pretty much the entire day and i only Fish, that's it. When i brought my ban on the discord, they said i was "botting" because "No one stays on the same map for 12 hours just fishing"... Funny enough, i was ranked 3rd Globally at fishing, level 99 41%XP, while the 2nd Spot was a Youtuber at over 80%XP and the 1st spot was lvl 99 at over 480%XP... but it's fine since they were both Content creators... Meanwhile the game is RIDDLED with actual CHEATERS who are using GDRE Toolkit to literally unlock GodMode/No Mana/Infinite Jump/No Cooldown/EXP Multuplier... and they are AFK farming Mobs 24/7. Check UnknownC or Epvp forums and see for yourself. It's not even paid, straight up modifying the .PCK files of the game and boom. As mentioned above, the dev is VERY incompetent and doesn't like criticism. Don't invest anytime/Money into this game, The dev Vibe coded the entire game, and has no clue on how to stop cheaters. The game have an anti-AFK system, which spawns a crystal on the map every 15 minutes or so. Initially you would walk up to it and solve an Arrow-Based minigame which was easy to bypass using bots, so the dev had the brilliant idea to make the Arrow mini game server-sided instead of client side, kind of like a Lower Tier CAPTCHA. He was bragging how it will stop ALL cheaters, meanwhile the cheaters figured it out within the first 30 minutes of the update... I brought the cheating issues and pointed them directly to the Posts, only to be met with "Every game have cheaters, deal with it, they will stop eventually, who cares just play the game your way, cheaters are racist so don't cheat ??????" The Discord community is a bunch of elitist who d***ride the Dev, so don't even bother to reason with them. Anyway, feelsbad getting banned after putting REAL 250+ Hours into a game i was enjoying despite it's issues. Stay away from this, and if you decide to give it a shot, do so, but don't spend any money on it.
