"Like all psychic life, creativity also comes from the unconscious. If you identify with the creative process, you end up believing that you are the creator." Soglia is a game based entirely on sound. A dreamlike journey into our unconscious to discover where ideas are born.

About
Soglia explores the connection between video games and musical composition, investigating how interactivity can become a creative tool for music through the gamification of sound. The project consists of a video game that is almost entirely sound-based, in which visual elements are reduced to a minimum and the experience is guided by listening and spatial orientation. The gameplay is based on exploration and sound collection, allowing the player to interact with and modify the acoustic environment in real time, which evolves like a dynamic and immersive composition.
Soglia attempts to describe the phenomenon of creativity and intuition that occurs within a dream. It seeks to answer a question: who is the one who creates and generates the idea? Is it us, or is it an “independent” creator that resides within our unconscious? In Soglia, the player embodies this creator and does everything possible to capture and organise the sound of the environment to generate the embryo of a composition.
The game is the result of a degree thesis in electronic music, so I understand that it can be difficult at times.
But don't give up, keep collecting Tags, try to understand the consistency between the sounds and collect Tags of the same type.
There are five types of tags and therefore five families of sounds:
Artificial noises
Natural noises
Musical instruments
Voice
Digital universe
Once you have collected 3 of the same type, that “family” will be promoted and allow you to continue. Once you have done this three times, you will reach the end, which is a sum of the actions you have taken during the game: a composition created by you.

This feels more like an art piece and a good test for surround sound. The game isn't hard to understand, you're basically blind and use sonar to navigate to "totems". It felt more like a fever dream. Personally if this was VR it'd be entertaining to witness someone on acid or shrooms play this. Especially with the ending. A nice little demo imo.
I really wanted to like this game. But even after the game explains to me what i'm meant to do I only barely vaguely understand the minimum. I get i'm supposed to listen and walk around blind. But i don't understand what i'm doing with the totems i get or what "switching off" the totems means. I am lost. I got about 3 totems until I couldn't figure it out. Maybe it's a skill issue? But I just didn't enjoy myself after the 5 minute mark. Honestly I dunno what could've been done better. I don't know if the game was meant to but after the 3rd totem I no longer was able to see other totems with echo-location on my compass

Modeled estimate over time.
the idea is great, the sound the visuals, but i wouldnt put it in adventure genre
Nice audio experience, though I bet if you had bad headphones it wouldn't really work for you
This was a lovely little experience. I struggled with telling the families of sound from each other, so I just went for whatever ones I found on the first playthrough. Even on the second one, some were difficult to parse and categorize, while some (like voices) were very distinct. It was fun to see the effect that picking different totems during the second session had on the soundscape of the ending. I also appreciate that as the game goes on, the visual GUI elements are gradually removed, both pushing you deeper into the game's world and actually making it harder to play as you come to rely on sound completely. The game takes about 10-20 minutes to play through to the end and the price tag is zero dollars. Try it out!
Pretty short game, an interesting concept! The ending was definitely a bit confusing. I'll have to try sound only mode later. (Headphones definitely recommended)
