Smash Halloween Pumpkins: The Challenge is a 2D retro pixel platformer/shooter from developer Anamik Majumdar, who is famous for rebadging the same game half a dozen times (Seriously, check out The Chills/Gregor Hills Haunted Hospital/House Number 666/Haunted Jail: Alcatas, they're all exactly the same game that this guy reskinned and dumped on Steam as a cash grab). Since this is the first platformer I've seen from this serial copy+paste developer (but I am sure it won't be the last copy of this game I'll see), I'll give it a proper review. It's not going to be pretty. There's literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers polluting Steam, this is one of the worst. Resolution and controls are locked, immediately plunging the game below minimum standards for PC. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC.
I was hoping this would be like an old Apogee game. It was not. Bare bones with lots of cheap deaths. ONE MINUTE REVIEW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmaE9P5d1Mo
