Decent concept, poor execution. This is a poor player of streaming spherical video, backed by poorly stitched observer footage. Stitching artefacts, horrible frame rates, repeatedly dropping bitrates (yeah, you recommend "20Mbps Wi-Fi" and my 100Mbps Ethernet won't do?) and no options to buffer it. The "live now" icon appeared to be a twenty second loop of footage, the first in which I'd even seen the screen the commentors might have been chatting about, but it kept jumping about as did the viewpoint. The Foo Show showed us a glimpse of how this should be done. By the way, if the five streams I'm offered are "live now" and "popular", where are the others? That's a hint of how muddy the UI is.
runs horribly in 360 mode. unwatchable on a 980 ti + 6700k. great concept and i look forward to updates, but in its current state i wont be using it
polecam
SLIVER.TV/WIN BEST SITE Edit; Sliver became what it swore to destroy. A rigged website.
Cool idea but currently a bit buggy. I think this really has some room to grow. I don't like how it switches your game view so often. I'd like to be able to fix the camera position or pick one to stick with. I also couldn't watch the CS:GO tournament livestream as it gave me some error when I clicked it. Some other games were working live and I was able to play the older matches. Going to try this again soon.
To be fair, for a first look, I kinda enjoyed it (or atleast it is a good idea...). Watched the CSGO ESL One New York 2016 Live stream with high hopes... At current state, everything was REALLY laggy with oohhh so low quality and that's without mentioning the audio quality. I just ended up watching the regular Twitch stream... But as said, it's a good idea and I'm hoping for a smoother experience in the future. I guess It's still Early Acces so what do you expect? Overall: Don't recommend it right now but I'm hoping for a faster, smoother experience in the future...
THE FUTURE IS HERE! Sliver is a cool platform for immersive experience of esports. I have truly enjoyed watching their VODs and live stream in VR. Looking forward for more awesome experiences. Thanks SLIVER team!
Crappy didn't work for my VIVE
New Negative review = Sliver.tv has pulled the plug on it's servers. Don't bother downloading now. Old Positive review = SLIVER.tv is a free VR experience. It worked on my system, looked ok, sounded ok, played ok. There is no current content on browsing side of this program, the videos you see are 2 to 4 years old. You can register for an account with Sliver.tv and login to that in-game, maybe that will provide you with current content. Some sort of contests are being advertised. All the live streamers are on Theta.tv. Has a couple game trailers. CONS: - The resolution of all the videos is greatly decreased because you are using head mounted displays. - Not sure of the trustworthiness of Sliver.tv. Try it, only if you like watching e-league gaming events and live streamers on Theta.tv, but the video quality is lacking.
