Skyreach

An ambitious attempt to merge a few ultimately incongruous ideas, at least in this realisation. It's not quite a racing game, more exploration - but you don't have the time to explore adequately as you frantically try to path-find, build, and drive simultaneously.

"Skyreach" is a weird conceptual driving arcade game with a.... oh wtf is going on with that car???? Anyway the idea is that you build the track as you go, and I gotta say part of the reason this failed so hard is definitely the weird, desolate environments and even weirder skeleton car... I mean some people go to therapy and other people develop tech demo games? I guess? The graphics aren't great... that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

Interesting racing game with poor execution - 4/10 This racing game has an interesting mechanic, as you build your own track while you are driving. The game seems unfinished though and has a lot of bugs. A big problem is you often don't know where the game wants you to go, even if there are multiple paths, one wrong block and you are off the path to collect crystals. Also very poor optimisation. After finishing the first level I thought: Hey this might be fun! but the other two levels are confusing. Skyreach takes a really awesome and unique idea and... doesn't do much with it. It's a shame really, the concept is brilliant, creating a track as you go is a very different idea, but it works! Very uplifting music scores this game a few more brownie points. However, I can't recommend this, not in its current state, if there was more than just a measly three levels (one being the tutorial), then I'd happily recommend it, but right now, no. It is free though so knock yourself out.

Sky reach is possibly the least fun and least put together game i've ever played. It is not even worth the easy achievements I would NOT recommend it.

⚠️3/10⚠️ La idea del juego no es mala, pero sin duda los controles y la jugabilidad de este es pésima. Le di una oportunidad con teclado y ratón y fue casi imposible jugarlo, le di una oportunidad con control/mando y fue peor, sin duda evitar este juego aunque sea gratis.
