Sketch! Run! is a modest but charming indie platformer developed by VI GAMES LLC and published by My Way Games that leans heavily into a playful hand-drawn aesthetic and classic run-and-jump design. Rather than attempting to reinvent the platforming genre, the game embraces familiar mechanics and wraps them in a whimsical sketchbook theme that gives it a distinct identity. From the moment it begins, Sketch! Run! feels like a love letter to old-school platformers, filtered through the imagination of a child doodling characters and worlds in a notebook. The premise centers on Liny, a character born from drawings who suddenly finds himself able to move beyond the confines of the notebook page. This simple narrative framework sets the tone for the entire experience, emphasizing curiosity, exploration, and a sense of innocent wonder. The story is not heavily developed through dialogue or cutscenes, but instead conveyed through the environments and the idea that this fragile, hand-drawn world is full of hazards that can easily erase Liny from existence. It’s a light narrative touch, but one that effectively supports the game’s tone without interrupting the flow of gameplay. Mechanically, Sketch! Run! sticks closely to traditional 2D platforming fundamentals. Movement is based around running, jumping, and carefully navigating through levels filled with pits, spikes, moving platforms, and themed hazards inspired by everyday stationery items. Erasers, water spills, and other “real-world” threats act as enemies or obstacles, reinforcing the idea that this is a world made of fragile sketches rather than solid matter. Controls are simple and accessible, making the game easy to pick up, though experienced platformer players may quickly recognize that depth comes more from level layout than from advanced movement options. The game offers a surprisingly large number of levels for its scope, with stages arranged to gradually increase in difficulty. Early levels focus on teaching timing and spacing, while later ones demand more precise movement and patience. Checkpoints are placed generously enough to keep frustration in check, though repetition can still occur during more demanding sections. Over time, the challenge becomes more about endurance and consistency rather than introducing new mechanics, which can make longer sessions feel repetitive for some players, even as others may appreciate the steady, predictable rhythm. Visually, Sketch! Run! commits fully to its sketchbook concept. Levels appear as if they were drawn with pencil and ink, complete with rough edges, simple shapes, and a deliberately unfinished look. This art style gives the game a strong sense of personality and helps it stand out among countless pixel-art platformers. While animations and visual effects are minimal, the consistency of the presentation makes the world feel cohesive. The simplicity also keeps visual noise low, ensuring that obstacles and hazards are always readable during fast-paced movement. Audio design supports the relaxed, playful atmosphere without drawing too much attention to itself. Music tracks are light and unobtrusive, providing a gentle backdrop rather than driving emotional highs. Sound effects are functional and clear, reinforcing jumps, landings, and collisions without overwhelming the experience. The overall soundscape fits the game’s casual tone, though it may feel understated for players who prefer more dynamic or memorable soundtracks in platformers. One aspect worth noting is the game’s Early Access status, which historically suggested ongoing development. In practice, however, Sketch! Run! feels largely complete, with its core mechanics, level set, and presentation firmly established. While this means players know exactly what they are getting, it also means those hoping for expanded systems, additional modes, or significant post-release evolution may be left wanting. The experience is fairly static, designed to be enjoyed as-is rather than revisited repeatedly for new content. Community reception reflects this balance. Players who enjoy straightforward platforming and creative visual themes often praise the game’s charm, accessible difficulty curve, and relaxed pacing. Criticism tends to focus on repetition, limited mechanical variety, and the absence of deeper systems that might elevate the experience beyond its core loop. As a result, Sketch! Run! occupies a niche space: it’s not a platformer meant to challenge genre veterans to their limits, nor is it a narrative-heavy adventure, but rather a cozy, uncomplicated journey. Overall, Sketch! Run! succeeds by staying true to its concept. It offers a pleasant, easy-to-understand platforming experience wrapped in a creative sketchbook world that feels earnest and personal. While it doesn’t push boundaries or deliver lasting mechanical depth, it provides a solid and enjoyable experience for players looking for a lighthearted indie platformer with a distinctive visual hook. Approached with the right expectations, Sketch! Run! stands as a small but sincere game that values charm and simplicity over ambition, making it a gentle diversion rather than a demanding test of skill. Rating: 6/10

И такой мусор продают уже 8 лет... run run for life
Cool and fun game! Not a typical game, worth to give it a try! The pencil is a bit huge in my opinion and hinders your sight sometimes. :D
