It's a cool concept and I enjoyed playing this, some frustrating parts but overall if you get it on sale it's worth it.
Size Matters, developed by Mazen Games and published by GrabTheGames, is a fast-paced, first-person puzzle and simulation game that transforms a clever premise into a frantic and humorous race against time. The concept is refreshingly original—you play as a scientist who has accidentally ingested a volatile chemical that causes them to shrink continuously. With each passing minute, the laboratory you once navigated effortlessly begins to morph into a towering, unfamiliar maze. Your only hope for survival is to craft an antidote before you become too small to interact with your surroundings. The game takes a simple idea and builds it into a surprisingly tense experience, balancing humor, stress, and ingenuity as the player’s world literally grows around them. The shrinking mechanic lies at the heart of Size Matters’ appeal. What begins as a fairly ordinary scavenger hunt quickly escalates into chaos as your character diminishes in size, forcing you to adapt to a constantly changing environment. A table that once served as a convenient workspace soon becomes an impassable cliff, while reaching a shelf or counter requires strategic stacking of boxes and furniture. This dynamic change of scale adds a level of immersion rarely found in puzzle games; it makes you acutely aware of your surroundings in ways that few titles manage. Each minute feels precious as you juggle between locating key ingredients, operating complex lab machinery, and physically finding new ways to reach equipment that you’ve outgrown. The sensation of shrinking is well-realized both visually and mechanically, creating an engaging feedback loop that merges urgency with exploration. At its core, the gameplay revolves around crafting a cure using a combination of chemical ingredients, formula notes, and specialized machinery scattered across the laboratory. Every session begins with randomized objectives, ensuring that no two runs feel exactly alike. The player must first locate the required chemicals, identify the correct formulas, and process them through various machines like the reversion device or chemical processor. The catch is that time is always slipping away. As you shrink, your mobility becomes restricted, your field of view narrows, and simple tasks such as flipping switches or carrying items turn into logistical puzzles. This constant time pressure transforms what might have been a slow, methodical crafting system into a thrilling race for survival, filled with moments of desperation and triumph. The visual presentation is modest but functional, supporting the game’s mechanics with clear layouts and readable environments. The laboratory, though simple in design, is filled with enough interactable objects and visual detail to make it feel like a living workspace. The perspective changes as you shrink are surprisingly effective—the world grows intimidatingly large, yet the transitions remain smooth, maintaining a sense of continuity and believability. The controls are responsive, though some players may find the item handling occasionally clunky, especially when the shrinking reaches extreme levels. Stacking boxes or jumping onto improvised platforms can feel a bit awkward, but these moments are more amusing than frustrating, contributing to the chaotic charm of the game. Where Size Matters truly shines is in its accessibility and replayability. Each playthrough can be customized to adjust parameters like the starting height, rate of shrinkage, and overall difficulty. This flexibility allows players to tailor their experience, from casual experimentation to punishing time trials. The procedural generation of objectives keeps things unpredictable, and the short run times make it ideal for quick, repeatable sessions. Despite its simplicity, the game’s tension and variety of possible solutions encourage experimentation and replay value. There’s a unique satisfaction in finding more efficient ways to craft the antidote—perhaps you learn to organize the workspace better or master shortcuts before your size dwindles too far. However, the game’s simplicity also limits its long-term appeal. Once you’ve grasped the core mechanics and optimized your strategy, the experience can feel repetitive. The loop of collecting ingredients, using machines, and crafting formulas remains largely unchanged across sessions. There’s also minimal narrative context or character development, which makes the experience more mechanical than emotional. Still, the developers compensate for this through the game’s charm, humor, and sense of self-awareness—it doesn’t take itself too seriously and embraces its absurd premise wholeheartedly. In the end, Size Matters succeeds because it delivers exactly what it promises: a frantic, imaginative, and entertaining indie experiment. It’s a game about quick thinking, spatial awareness, and managing chaos under pressure, all wrapped in a delightfully absurd scenario. While it doesn’t offer the depth or polish of a large-scale release, its clever mechanics and creative design make it a memorable experience. Each shrinking moment adds to the tension and hilarity of your impending doom, ensuring that every run feels like a madcap scientific disaster in motion. For players seeking something inventive, compact, and refreshingly different, Size Matters is a small-scale gem that proves even a simple idea can grow into something memorable. Rating: 8/10
Nudnawy średniak.
This game is short, sweet, and has fun customizing with chemical names. It doesn't try to overstay it's welcome with gimmicks or filler content. Great little time waster to enjoy, chill too, and customize difficulty for more challenge. I usually don't give much attention to shorter games, but there is just something fun and welcoming about the concept, style, presentation, and atmosphere. Simple, but fun. =)
