This is a really cool blend of RTS and 4x. Love the gal civ series, and many other 4x games (such as the age of series, and HOMM series, etc) And I love RTS, such as SC2, and DOW and AOE series. This is a good middle ground, where you might not want to invest 8-40+ hours in a 4x playthrough, but want a little more depth than a quick 20 min RTS game. Rounds in this take approx 2 hours. Takes a bit to learn the nuance the game offers, the tutorials help, and a beginner youtube video helps further solidify knowledge and understanding. After two matches I feel like I have a pretty firm grasp on everything. I just play vs AI. The highlights of this game are the space battles and graphic effects of all the missiles, guass and auto cannons, and the shields and other cool effects and abilities. You can micro the battles, or sit back and watch it unfold in a cinematic mode. Game speed is fully adjustable and pausible. No real complaints honestly, maybe more factions would be nice? Or a DPS tracker so I can understand further which of my ships are doing how much damage. If this at all looks like it appeals to you, it is a good grab.
Really the game boils down into who gets the snowball rolling first and keeps it. Every battle is a DPS check, that you can either beat by avoiding or having the bigger blob. The CPU opponent is ultimately boring and uninventive, CPU difficulty boils down into how long do you want you're balls crushed until you eventually out scale or get out scaled. It also never pools it units before moving them there will always be a trickling in of units after every big fight. I'm a sucker though and want to see what ironclad and the bois will make out of this game eventually. I'd recommend waiting till the games priced at 30$ and not buying the promised DLCs until they are delivered.
It takes time and patience to complete the tutorial and understand what's going on, but after all it's quite an interesting game.
Great game, love the space battles and the graphics are a good improvement from sins 1, runs smooth at 100 fps most of the time. Can't really comment on the campaign as I haven't played it as of yet. However My first game was a 22hr, 120 planets with 2 enemies, loved it!! some cool ideas with how you upgrade your ship and i like the idea of unique power ups for your ships, cool idea. Also cool that there's still mod support, shame no Sacrifice of Angels as of yet :( By far the best mod ever made for this game. 9/10 Don't wana go to a 10 AS MY 22hr save of galactic domination now has loading errors due to an update... :(. But apart from that, AWESOME GAME!! D-Stig
The game is OK. I am not sure if it's full price OK but it's ok. I have a major problem in recognising the research trees. I really wish they would have used human drawn icons and not AI, it's something "off" about them. Is like they all look the same and I have a hard time visualy learning and diferentiating them.
I was a fan of the first game. I bought the premium pack of the second game. I could not find any new features in this new game. Also, I have been waiting for the campaign and other content updates, but receiving none until now. Feel disappointed.

9/10 OK! Let me first and foremost get this out of the way, THE AI SUCK in a goodish way i was testing ai and their difficulty it seemed to me that the level of ai did not matter for some reason idk if it was just my game or what but while i was playing i noticed the ai had 3x the amount of ships as me and even more planets, which is weird cause my play style is planet rush, id get to about 5 or 6 planets in the first 5 minutes or so but after about 10 minutes of gameplay i noticed the ai at my doorstep to many times, so i started spectating ai and mannnnnn, let me tell you idk if its in their programming or what but watching the ai ♥♥♥♥ out ships as fast as they do, while keeping enough stuff left over to try and out pace you in research is nuts. i will say it is a easy game but if cheating ai is not your bread and butter, the PvP aspect is pretty fun. the only issue is its a slow paced game and getting the same people to continue a run is kinda hard, and doing it with friends is even harder cause sometimes people don't have the time. IF it wasn't for the AI going Bootysnatcher3000 on my planets every 5 minutes when I'm destroying their planets income id have a fun time and it would be 10/10 but if i go a difficulty down its like I'm literally taking candy from a baby. Not two things I thought I'd say next to each other but hey its literally the scaling.
Fun RTS game
Reasonably decent sequel to a long running RTS. Lots of updates to keep things fresh'ish. My only original complaint (and it's a big one) is that the in-game NPC radio chatter is child'ish and ogre-like. It doesn't match the seriousness of the universe portrayed in the game trailer. The in-game radio chatter is so bad that I have been forced to turn the chatter volume way down. I'd absolutely turn it off, but I need it to know if my ships off screen are being attacked or construction on a structure is completed. If they could completely rework the chatter to reflect a more serious tone, I'd LOVE this game. But as it is, I can barely stand it. Secondly, the snowballing effect in this game is outright atrocious. Meh.
