A fun game, dragged down by AI image trash that is unavoidable, and a broken mod integration with pitifully slow download speeds. I like the new mechanics of not needing specialized crew for capital ships and you CAN spam them if you want, although it won't be too strong. I like how modern the game looks, I love that planets can move and you can't just concentrate your defenses in one point in the lane because eventually they will be in the wrong direction, but the AI images and the choice of using mod.io instead of Steam workshop is baffling. AI images used as a placeholder is understandable. But when you boot up the screen, the title picture is AI-generated. Many of the portraits of the races are AI generated. Almost all if not the entire tech-tree is AI generated and until recently when most of the images don't pop up anymore, its always on your face. It has been said that it was the artists who worked previously on the older titles choice to use AI images as a placeholder until the official art can replace them. But its seemingly nothing has been done about it. Sure the tech-tree images can be last priority but the first screen of launching the game, and its AI-Generated? Baffling. You think they could of at LEAST get rid of that a year in. Secondly; Mod.io. It is a terribly slow mod integration. A 2GB mod can have legitimately TEN TIMES SLOWER download speed. Why not use the built in Steam workshop? The developers said its so they can remain Platform Neutral but that's nonsense. I played a game called Mechwarrior which had Steam workshop support and support for mods in other platforms like nexus mods. This forced "neutrality" for mods just drag it down for no reason. I want to play my mods, but Mod.io is content in keeping me waiting to download a small patch that Steam workshop could of finished when I am taking a piss. Have BOTH. let the modders choose if they want to use steam workshop or something else, not force it upon everyone for a worse experience.
I mean, as an evolution of the SoSE formula, its great. It is my goto space rts right now, so considering all the options out there, that says something. I only wish I didn't feel like I had to play each larger match all the way through to the end to be satisfied. Some of these matches take HOURS. I wish they had some kind of persistent universe game mode to scratch that itch for me.
-Hideous AI Portraits for the Factions.
The idea is ok, Basically the same compared to a lot of other games. I honestly expected more since this was there second title. Never played number one. The Problem with the game is that is just lacks so much. Settings, advance fleet directions, unclear victory conditions, buggy coop ai enemies or teammates or factions, unspecific or no details of what stuff actually does, and so on, and late game scaling in my opinion is weird. I get max fleet, research essential ships and buffs down the military tech tree and have like 95% of the strongest fleet i can get yet i still have like 2 hours worth of in game tech time that still needs to be research because there are only so few way to increase research speed for that last 5 % of economic or military prowess. I know they are coming out with a bunch of dlcs, but they all seem to expand whats already there not to refine it. After playing it for a few hours, a few different maps, a few different factions, I have played it all. Sure I cant go against the hardest difficult cause i don't know the exact perfect build path and what not, but like i mentioned it is so similar to so many previous games that just were just more refined. The game is ok, if your interested get it on sale, because it is just expensive for what it actually offers.

SUPER!!
One of my favorite 4x RTS games. Lots of good mods (Sure, nothing like Stellaris, but some good ones none-the-less). Plenty of play styles available. And I especially love to play the full conversion mods available on Mod.io (such as the Star Wars or Mass Effect mod). I recommend you get it on discount to add to your library if you ever have a chance and you enjoy 4x RTS instead of TBS style.
Игра с огромными картами, для заруб игроков друг с другом, по итогу 4 флота хватает что бы опустить игру до 1 FPS. Играть в 3+ просто не реально. Разработчики, где оптимизация?
A nice strategy game if you never played strategy games before. Otherwise, there are games that do the same thing better. Warhammer Dawn of War has better tactical battles Terra Invicta has better unit customization/tactical space battles Warcraft III has better anti-snowball mechanics AI War 2 has better AI/expansion planning/roguelike elements Etc etc Can't name something in Sins that would set it apart from other games of the genre in a good way. Guess it should be fun with friends but I ain't got friends that play this
