Y O U N G M A N . . . ˢaʸyʸ ˢaʸyʸy [fun fact] 𝒦𝑒𝑒𝐻𝑒𝑒! 𝐼 𝒽𝑜𝓅𝑒 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝒷𝓇𝑜𝓊𝑔𝒽𝓉 𝑀𝒶𝒸𝒸𝒶! Takes about an hour to get going, and then boom ... 80 hours straight. About to start NG+. I need that 100% demon compendium.
Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance is a masterclass in gameplay. Where it lacks in story, it makes up in gameplay. The customization is ENDLESS and every build for the protagonist is viable, even status ailments are now pretty viable. You are also able to individually raise the stats of your demons or level them up fast with an item. It is also possible to give your demon almost any skill, given that you have the correct essence(which can also be farmed!). It truly allows for limitless potential in team building! As a long time SMT fan, the Netherworld is also very beautiful. The demons feel alive and you find demons exactly where you would expect to find them (for example, Mermaids near water, bird-like demons on high places, horse like demons in big open fields). The story is lacking but for me that is more of a feature than a complaint! This was, and still is, the perfect game to just kinda chill to. Exploration was also really fun with a lot of sidequests that add to the overall worldbuilding. The music is absolutely amazing. It also ran flawlessly on my PC and I have heard that this game is very well optimized. If you are a fan of JRPGS or even remotely interested in this game, I HIGHLY recommend it.
Gioconeeee!!!
This game doesn’t really have much of a story and the characters are about as two-dimensional as you can get (they’re more caricatures than actual characters) but it all comes together in service of a vibe that they probably wouldn’t achieve if they’d done anything differently. It feels very deliberate and it ends up creating what feels like a fever dream. The story is one of the only criticisms I see, but I think critics miss the point. I came to this series late, but I loved this game. Each decision that the team made when they created this game serves to somehow make the game even more niche, but it’s all so perfectly executed that it sort of transcends its niche audience. It’s like a Pokémon-style creature collector crossed with the best JRPG combat mechanics that you can find, crossed with the difficulty of a Souls game, crossed with religious esotericism, crossed with some of the most over-the-top fan-service you can find. There’s nothing else like it, really. SMT, Persona, and Metaphor are more than just game series, they’re like their own genres and SMT is the most unique of them.
Very interesting game, i love the core mechanics, it is classic SMT, the story has quite a few dry moments but is genuinely intriguing. I do think the ending can feel a little empty/overwhelming, at least with the ending i got. The difficulty was quite nice, i played on normal, there was only a singular frustrating part, around level ~25 there was a boss that felt much harder than the rest. Still a solid game, i recommend it to any JRPG fans, 8.5/10. I don't want to compare to persona, as SMT is its own entity, but I do think its similar enough, yet different enough to be fresh and exciting, with more focus on mechanics over characters and story.
I love this game. I think I might like it more than any other SMT game. It's a lot to ask, but I recommend going through the game on the Creation route first. There's a whole ass game there to play first, and it carries over all of the mechanical improvements that Vengeance has. Vengeance is the better experience, I think, but you'll miss some of the magic they put into the game by just playing the Vengeance route. If you wanna save time, NG+ is there, and hard mode has significant multipliers that will make it not a _complete_ cakewalk to finish the game again. The gameplay is great, the port is fantastic, the OST is banging. I really recommend this one if you're a JRPG fan.
Amazing game, I am very very glad that I decided to give Shin Megami a try for the first time. I had bought this game during a 70% sale for the Deluxe edition with all of the DLC included, And I can for sure tell ya that this was definitely worth the 31$ that I spent to get it. Because the moment that I had started playing the game and got into it, I had gotten so hooked into it that I played it for 10 hours straight, And i'm not even done the game yet lmao. There's just so many unique looking demons/gods that you can create/fuse together all with there own unique looks and movesets that it feels like it's a Digimon and a Persona game combined into 1 singular Great game. And the great thing is, is that You don't have to worry about not having a certain monster if you had already used it to make another creature aswell, Because you can just use some of the ingame currency and just repurchase that exact creature back again using the portal thingy. I will however would like to personally suggest that if you are going to buy the Deluxe edition like I did, I highly suggest that you turn the (EXP Mitama's) spawn rate back down to Standard in the General settings, Reason being is that those things spawn like every 3 minutes while it's on increased, and if killed they give you a usable item that gives you an entire level. The Others like the Coins and Faith are fine to stay on increased in my personal opinion as they don't really do a whole lot due to the abundance that you get by just playing the game normally anyway. But with those EXP ones on increased are is just so crazyily OP, So unless you wanna speedrun some levels and get to like level 30 or somethin extremely fast. Than I'd like to recommend turning it down. Hey you do you though, I'm not here to tell anyone what to do, As this game is still fun regardless.
ITS AMAZING
