Red Dead Redemption 2... boy, what a ride. Literally. This game will drill itself into your heart and your brain — whether you like it or not. My expectation: “Yeah yeah, cowboy game… I’ll play it for a few hours.” Reality: - emotional damage - existential crisis and everlasting depression - 30 hours spent just riding through the wilderness - crying over fictional characters at 2AM But let’s do this properly: Red Dead Redemption 2 lets you play as the vagabond Arthur Morgan in 1899, somewhere in the wild, wild West. You’re part of the Van der Linde gang, trying to make a living as an outlaw (with... varying degrees of success). Gameplay-wise, it’s technically a third-person shooter with RPG elements — but calling it that feels almost disrespectful. You’re not just shooting stuff or leveling. You’re a treasure hunter, outlaw, explorer, farmer, debt collector, hunter, revolutionary, detective… basically whatever the game feels like throwing at you. There’s no traditional leveling system — instead, the game leans heavily into immersion, and it absolutely nails it. The story? Oh boy. This game grabs you and doesn’t let go. The characters are insanely well written, each with their own motivations, flaws, and personalities - “I HAD A PLAN!” By the end you’ll either cry your eyes out or feel a level of rage you didn’t know you were capable of. Personally, I found another all-time favorite character besides Arthur Morgan: Sadie Adler. That woman is an absolute force of nature — tough as f*ck, but still full of charm and emotional depth! On the flip side I also added someone new to my “most hated characters ever” list but i won't spoil anything here... The open world is simply breathtaking. I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that this game is already 8 years old — it doesn’t show at all. Some landscapes look like they’re straight out of a painting, and many cutscenes feel like you’re watching a damn movie. This is easily the most living, breathing open world I’ve ever played in and i played a lot games so far! I got this game as a gift from my siblings, and honestly i’m a bit ashamed it took me 2 years to finally play it. As it turns out, it's one of the best gifts i ever got! Give this game a shot. Yes, the beginning can feel slow and a bit overwhelming — this isn’t a game for people with the attention span of a goldfish. But stick with it! Once it clicks, once you settle into the controls and fully immerse yourself in the world… you’re in for one of the best gaming experiences out there. And always remember: Be a good man like Arthur Morgan. 10/10
