[Update: Pacific Strike] The save files got corrupted and none of my progress loads. Neat. I really wanted to like this game, but its not a game, its a teeth grinding sim. The AI is hopeless, I spend my fighting my own units. They dont follow orders, behave erratically (just shut down, unresponsive). Theres a really good game in there somewhere, but the devs should have put another year easy into this game before trying to early release it on steam. Shame on Triassic
How to win as NATO against the soviets: -Maintain air superiority -Maintain radar coverage -Stay out of missile range -Carefully maneuver your ships -Use electronic warfare aircraft -Constantly micromanage all air and naval assets -Stay out of missile range -Coordinate multiple groups of aircraft to fire enough Harpoon missiles at once to hopefully hit something -End up not hitting anything, have to wait an hour to resupply your aircraft -STAY OUT OF MISSILE RANGE -you didn't stay out of missile range, hope your 4 layers of missile defense are enough -they weren't enough -your ships now make nice homes for fish. how to win as the soviets against NATO: -find ships -shoot twenty (20) P-700 Granit (SS-N-19 "Shipwreck") missiles at ships -win All jokes aside, this game is great if you love military strategy. Can't wait to see how the devs update it in the future. Great mod support too! 9/10
This update brings many disappointing issues. The dev team arbitrarily revises original game mechanics. Many changes ignore veteran players’ experience, breaking a large number of existing mods and severely damaging the mod‑ding community ecosystem. There is also obvious unfair treatment between different country factions, with notable gaps in content design and balance. The studio lacks a unified lead director. Development is disorganized, and many bugs remain unresolved for a long time. We hope the official will take player feedback seriously, respect the mod community, improve faction balance, reorganize development workflow, and restore the core fun of the game.
Seriously dumb AI can ruin your several hour game by doing something that makes no sense. Aircraft carrier elevators can bug out and get stuck ruining your game as well. Needs work.
The game is incredibly laggy, becoming worse overtime as scenarios draw out. Despite my high specs my PC runs hot after 30 minutes. The developers feel flippant in acknowledgement of this and do not admit on how bad performance is. AI do not engage threats appropriately, leading AI in my experience to engage your task forces with only 1-2 cruise missiles in any given time. So it feels like you're fighting toddlers instead of advanced Cold War Sino-Soviet task forces. Campaigns currently rely on scripted events. This game stands as a tech demo, but has a lot of content! If you want a Cold war Naval RTS game I'd tell you to consider this one, but these are issues that I don't expect being fixed soon.
Gameplay is fun enough, hampered by terrible performance issues. Running on medium settings, placing a single unit in the encyclopedia and moving the camera a little bit makes the game stutter and tank to 15-30 fps. In actual scenarios the game will start out fine but grind to a halt after an hour. These issues have been around since the game was released in early access and I have not seen any improvements in performance since then. I will change my mind and review if these are fixed.
