It's fun. Definitely Chrono Trigger-ish. Pretty easy for the most part. Except for the DLC, which is much harder in an annoying way so I didn't finish it.
I'm about 16 hours in, and I just... don't see the point of finishing this. The mechanics are ok (though the timing system is pretty damn bad), but there's really nothing interesting about the game, the characters, or the story. Maybe I'll grind the rest of it out, I don't know.

I HATE JRPGs.... but I freakin' love this game. Action commands. No grinding necessary. Killer presentation and soundtrack. Just incredibly solid, through and through.
I disagree with the negative reviews. I think the issue is that a lot of people had too high expectations. From what I learned, having high expectations that is ALWAYS going to make the game a disappointment. That’s what made me so disappointed in Chrono Trigger ironically enough. I will admit I have not finished the story as of now but I will say this: I love the combat and the characters. The combat is no joke and you can easily lose if you do not strategize well enough. That, to me, is what makes winning these battles so rewarding. There have been many times I just NARROWLY escaped losing a battle. It’s exhilarating, and easily what I love the most about this game. Admittedly, I’m one of those people that cares more about the gameplay than the story. But so far? I like it. It’s nothing crazy, nothing like say, Xenoblade Chronicles (my favorite rpg of all time), but there are definitely some moments that keep me interested in how things are going to end up. Overall, I’m having fun. And that’s all that matters to me.
Sea of stars is a very cool game. The characters are very charismatic and fun to see grow (especially Garl) The artstyle is beautiful, especially the animated cutscenes and the giant structures in the background. The story is what you would expect from an RPG, choosen heroes save the world but it does have some interesting differences like Garl being a powerless human and still helping (can you tell I liked Garl?) or the way it talks about choosen heroes that didn't want to be choosen heroes. The combat is interesting using times hits to make turn based combat more exciting. Lastly the puzzles and little "enigmas" of the game were something that I really liked, the solistice shrines, the way you unlock some extra content. Overall cool game, you might think it will end soon but it won't and then when it ends there's actually more to do.
