I cannot in good faith recommend this game. As of today, it still has cheaters, and a ton of bugs. Cheaters in a game as punishing as this, where there is no safety net and if you get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over you can lose hours of work, are unacceptable. the developers are slow, and have no way to restore items lost to cheaters, or even the brokenness of their own game. How do I know this? let me tell you a story. I went on a generational run last saturday. Nobody else on the server at all, just me and my duo. Spend five hours looting almost the entire map. We're almost done, only three locations left on the whole map to clear. We've got three stuffed full crates of crafting resources and cash, working on a fourth, three rare high tier radio crates that broadcast your location in a radio beacon. 15 bulky crafting items in cargo slots, two hand-extract only high tier research items...we're approaching our third-to-last location. both of us disconnect simultaneously in a way that indicates a server crash. No bad connection icon, nothing. Just playing, and then the trampler starts going to space, it hangs for about 30 seconds and we both get kicked. try to reconnect? cannot establish connection, server and all five hours of work gone. Nothing to show for it except the refund of what we brought and not losing the trampler...but we keep none of the loot. this is the fourth time in one week we have had this crash. I cannot recommend this game in good faith because it will take your hard earned time and items through no fault of your own, with nothing you can do about it. If I lost all that to PVP, you know, yeah, i would be unhappy, but it would be my fault for losing the fight. But to servers crashing? that's the developers fault. Now, you might be saying "oh, Well contact support and see if they can help!" I did, after waiting several days for their slow responses, they tell me there's nothing they can do as they dont have a way to manually restore items, and then have the gall to redirect me to the connection troubleshooting page like their garbage servers are my fault. Don't buy this. It's an excellent game with great bones, but there are just too many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ catches, that the developers arent nearly fast enough to fix. the player count is tanking for good reason.
If you are considering this game, I'd suggest giving it a pass till they have anti-cheat fixed as well as matchmaking. The recent Q&A they say they can't focus on it... when that should have been a key feature for a PVP game. Love the concept, very, very poor execution. I wanted to stick with it for the trampler building, but it is extremely too restrictive and way too grindy for parts that would be essential to even last a couple of minutes with people having maxed out tramplers. So I keep asking myself, what's the point when the grind is made even harder because other people are making it harder for you.
Terrible balancing of the game, have legitimately no chance to advance fighting massivley overpowered teams with hundreds of hours. Until it's fixed I'm out!
This game is amazing and it breaks my heart that I can't recommend it to anyone right now. Cheaters, dupers and teamers have drained the game of any new blood, leaving veteran sweats who immediately destroy anyone trying to get back into it, leading to them leaving again, and that's assuming you can even get into a lobby with another crew in it. Despite there being gear based matchmaking, the pool of players is far too small and split for it to be noticeable, with highly geared teams often being in the same lobby as teams who bought the game a day ago (with those sometimes being the only 2 teams in the lobby lol), not to mention that those who exploited duplication bugs can just immediately destroy either crew using their exploited items. While the pvp is fun when you get to fight players of similar skill, the odds are simply stacked against you too often due to the low playerbase, meaning new players don't get to experience the parts of the game that are actually fun. More often than not, as a new player, you will spend 20-30 minutes walking around a desert, visiting cities and picking up loot, only to get pulled up on by someone who isn't within the zip code of your skill level, dying without learning anything and losing any progress you may have gotten. The whole situation with this game saddens me, since I was one of it's greatest supporters during early grievances, but as the problems piled up I simply could not use the early access excuse to justify all of this when the game is $30. Give the game another month or two in the oven at the very least and then maybe check back on it, that's what me and my friends are going to do anyways.
fix your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, cheaters on cheaters. id refund if i could, do not buy!
four hours of gameplay and I haven't been able to manage an extraction because the exits are always camped, and I'm always outgunned. what a waste of time.
Well I'm more of a 50/ 50 guy the game is fun but when you join a server to do pve, pvp players will come and reck you to get your loot , cool what ever F ..... All I'm saying is, is the game pvp ore pve make a server to do pvp ore pve because keeping getting reckt to pve and then joined pvp in a solo is to mush for me . I did get a nice rush from is but getting peppered on is way my review is a no . bring out a nice story and do it co-op and my friends and I are in . The community needs to help to get the player base up and not be toxic . I played for 42 hrs and just cant hold my self back now , looted and waisted my time just to gets beaten to pvp mostly when is did ask to leave me for pve uninstall to keep my sanity
Recently cheaters are force crashing players and destroying tramplers before they have time to re-launch the game. Prior to this, the developers disabled capturing tramplers because cheaters were teleporting aboard enemy ships and stealing them. Amazingly sh*t game design. Why even bother with anti-cheat software when it doesn't even work in this game. Aside from the cesspool of blatant cheating this game becomes very stale with most aspects of it. Combat tends to be the most exciting and fun time you will have. Everything else in this game is a giant snoozefest. AI intelligence is laughably dumb with such tactics as: run in circles, and run into walls from poor pathfinding. Loot feels remarkably unrewarding. Trampler building/upgrading tends to favor players who have sunk more hours into the game than you -> newer players do not have access to more powerful parts/shop items/ship compartments. A few other things worth noting: - character creation is practically non-existent with the only option is choosing between 3 random-gen characters - Progress is only saved on the region/server you choose to play on (e.g. switching from US Central to US East will reset any progress/inventory/trampler upgrades you make)
full of hacks
SAND could have been something genuinely special. My friends and I have had a lot of fun with it, which makes its current state even more disappointing. The game is completely overrun with cheaters, exploiters, and players openly teaming despite it being against the terms of service. These issues are destroying the experience for anyone trying to play legitimately, yet the developers have seemingly done little to nothing about it. It is honestly impressive how quickly a promising game can be ruined through negligence. The community handed the developers a game worth supporting, and instead of protecting it, they allowed dishonest players to take control of the experience. What should have been an easy recommendation has become a warning: do not waste your time until the developers prove they are willing and capable of enforcing their own rules. Watching a game with this much potential rot because its creators refuse to address obvious problems is truly pathetic. A great concept, completely squandered. The developers seriously ♥♥♥♥♥♥ this up.
