I have to say, it's a delightful and refreshing take on the survival game. As a huge fan of games like "Vampire Survivors", I was excited to dive into this underwater world and play as a pistol shrimp. The concept of surviving waves of enemies while collecting pearls from oysters is both unique and engaging. And the developers have clearly put a lot of thought into creating a a variety of marine creatures. One of the standout features for me is the clear display of game values. There's no guesswork involved, and it's easy to understand how your shrimp is progressing and what you need to do to improve. This level of transparency makes the game more accessible and enjoyable for players of all skill levels.
This game is simple to learn and highly addicting. Early levels get you used to the game and the harder levels will certainly challenge you. Looking forward to playing even more hours and seeing what more the developer comes up with. Would def recommend!
Amazing game. Really makes you think, don't it? What if shrimp were people? Crazy.
Loving the game and all the customization's. <3
very cool slug slugged on me like it knew what it was doing
Shrimp Survivors is a game like no other. A transcendent experience that exceeds even the highest triple A standards. I am writing this before the creator of this game inevitably gets hired as game director for a major studio. In a world where constant betrayals by respected publishers and developers has become the norm, Shrimp Survivors stubbornly sticks to purely a game without any unneeded or unwanted distraction. It stands as the sole pinnacle of gaming the likes of which only legendary games like Half-Life and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have ever reached previously, and gaming itself will never be the same now that it's out.
Saltwater, released on February 10, 2025, by developer Lean Hog and publisher The Zhou Bros, is a remarkable indie title that has swiftly risen to prominence, challenging the dominance of many triple-A games. This action-packed, twin-stick shooter offers a unique and immersive underwater experience that captivates players from the very first dive. Gameplay and Mechanics In Saltwater, players assume the role of a pistol shrimp, navigating through vibrant underwater environments teeming with hostile sea creatures. The game's mechanics are reminiscent of titles like Brotato, but with a distinctive twist—there's no auto-aim, requiring players to master manual targeting for a more engaging and skill-based experience. As you progress, your crustacean protagonist gains experience points, allowing for level-ups and the selection of various upgrades, such as increased attack damage or enhanced movement speed. The thrill of cracking open oysters to collect pearls, which can be used to unlock new shrimps and weapons, adds a rewarding layer of strategy and progression. Visuals and Audio The game boasts stunning 2D vector art combined with real underwater photography, creating a visually striking and immersive aesthetic. The hand-drawn, stylized visuals are both colorful and evocative, bringing the underwater world to life in a way that few games achieve. Complementing the visuals is a captivating soundtrack that enhances the overall atmosphere, making each session a sensory delight. Replayability and Content As a roguelike, Saltwater offers high replayability with its procedurally generated challenges and permadeath mechanics. Each run presents new opportunities and obstacles, ensuring that gameplay remains fresh and engaging. The in-game medals for beating levels provide additional goals for players to strive toward, adding to the game's longevity. Community Reception Despite being a recent release, Saltwater has garnered positive feedback from the gaming community. On Steam, it holds a "Positive" rating based on user reviews, reflecting its warm reception among players. Conclusion Saltwater is a testament to the innovation and passion that indie developers bring to the gaming industry. Its engaging gameplay, stunning visuals, and high replayability make it a standout title that not only competes with but often surpasses many triple-A games. For those seeking a fresh and exhilarating gaming experience, diving into the depths with Saltwater is an adventure not to be missed.
I actually really enjoy this game. I hope to see this ported to mobile, as I could see myself spending hours playing this when i'm bored. Not bad at all Lean Hog!
This game is so freaking cool! Not only does it have smooth movement and awesome sound effects, its also very detailed and artistic. There's so many different combinations of characters/weapons that its replayability is quite high for a game of this category. I cant wait for a mobile version!!!
