S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

Story & Narrative (The Core): The main story is the absolute star of the show. It is deep, complex, and poses excellent philosophical and moral questions regarding control and choice. The ideological conflict between factions and the C-Consciousness gives every decision genuine weight. Gameplay: The gunplay and survival mechanics are outstanding. Constant tension, managing radiation and weapons, and edge-of-your-seat encounters keep you immersed in danger at all times. Graphics & Performance: Visuals are exceptionally strong, bringing Pripyat to life with gloomy, realistic environments. Most importantly, recent updates have significantly improved performance, making the game far more stable and smooth. Drawbacks: The only minor annoyance lies in the design of certain missions, which can feel somewhat repetitive at times and occasionally disrupt the pacing. Final Verdict: A game that delivers a hauntingly realistic world and a phenomenal storyline that easily outweighs the repetitive missions. A solid 9 / 10 well deserved

Why didn't they make a VR version after so many years of development? What is so difficult about it?

This game is great, when it works. I played when it originally released, and enjoyed it quite a bit, despite the poor performance on my PC at the time. (different specs than what I have currently) The game was clearly unfinished; IIRC, I don't even think you could fully play through the story in 1.0. But I don't ever recall having issues with crashes for the few weeks I spent playing it at the time. Currently, with version 2.0.4, I can't play this game for more than 30-45 minutes without experiencing a GPU crash causing me to hard reset my PC because my screen has gone completely black and unresponsive. I'm running all AMD hardware, and from the research I've done online and the few reddit threads I've scoured from other people having similar issues with this game, it's specific to AMD GPUs, and possibly frame generation. Nothing I've tried has made any significant improvement. I've messed with changing the graphics settings, turning frame-gen on and off, changing super sampling from FSR4, to the intel one, or TAA, etc; but nothing I've tried has yielded a permanent solution. I've been able to reduce the frequency of the crashes from every few minutes to the aforementioned 40-ish minutes of gameplay. I've been dealing with these crashes Saturday 8/29 (it's currently Monday 8/31). It's incredibly demoralizing. In my opinion, the current state of the game is unplayable for any extended period of time. I really enjoy this game, even if there's a few bugs here and there. But having to fully restart my PC because of some sort of instability with how this game is optimized is absurd. Currently I do not recommend getting this game if you have and AMD GPU.

im thoroughly shocked. this game has come such a long way. i played when it came out for awhile. did not beat it. this is insane. not the same game that came out. i think this is what the devs waanted from the start andd theyve more than succeeded. i hope everything in Ukraine works out for the better. god bless.
