Bad controls and typos strategically placed in the spots that make the game as bad as possible (also the design of the maps are bad and the story-line is stupid)
I'm ngl I'm not smart enough for this game so I looked everything up LMAO, but I really liked the story and Amy feels pretty realistic and relatable, you find yourself wanting to legitimately cheer for her (at least I did). The dialogue is pretty good imo, and I loved the overall look to the game. The only complaint I have for the game is that the controls are kind of unconventional and confusing at times and some characters deserved a bit more depth to them because they felt a little 2-dimensional at times. The ending is pretty heart-warming as well as satisfying.
I feel like 2.6 hours is enough lol I am someone who enjoys solving puzzles and cracking codes. Heck, I even made three different ciphers if that says anything! This game had the potential to be great! I enjoyed the use of multiple cryptographic methods in the beginning as an introduction to cryptography. However, the game lacked that too as the player advances. I have not been able to solve the fourth puzzle on my own, and had to use Steam guides to figure it out. The logic doesn't add up with that puzzle. Then the fifth puzzle was extremely simple, but later puzzles are all based on frequencies of letters and/or symbols. I wish there was more variety with the ciphers and other cryptographic methods in this game. TLDR: The game's premise is great, but the execution of the game's puzzles is not great.
Wanted to like this game. The cryptography is pretty good tbh. In the part i played (just past puzzle 4)It would have been nice to have some in game scratch paper or something but i ended up using an external word document. If you want to play it have scratch paper handy and feel free to google the types of ciphers etc you are working with to get a little more information on how to work with them. I genuinely enjoyed the cryptography. I did not like the story. and it got to the point that I felt bad doing it so i stopped. The puzzles get to be 'ah yes lets help this police department/shady government organization with catching drug users etc...' It feels like you are supposed to enjoy these puzzles and helping the cops and it doesn't (at least in the part i played) seem to address at all that these activities your character is participating in are not great actually. Also there are no content warnings despite its topics so yeah.
spoilers follow: in particular the character doesn't have much agency in things or just interacts with the world like she is not in imense danger?. She fills out a puzzle she finds in spam mail ok fair bu then when they respond with something like we got your message please stay where you are we are coming. in the form of a note slipped under her door. she just thinks its nothing? she doesnt tell anyone or consider how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ creepy and dangerous that is? And then gets kidnapped by the mysterious governmen agency and is just like guess im stuck in this basement clearly i just solve the puzzle they give me go home nd im one. Then after this she goes with that same goverment agency after they kidnapped her??? And after a few cases she talks to a coworker and she says that she wants to go home but her coworker (a significantly older man btw while she is a recent college grad) is just like no you cant go home you are going to have drinks with me. and takes her to a bar and they are basically the only people there? like what this is the prime situation for SA and the game just carries on like this was a normal healthy way of bonding with your coworkers. Oh and its not even clear if she knows where her wrk actually is or if the government literally kidnapps her bag over the head get in a cop car and all literally every day. Thats where i stopped but a glance over the community posts seems to indicate that the game esclates from there and ends with something that looks a hell of a lot like a suicide note from one of your coworkers saying essentially 'are you sure you want to work here dont make my mistakes.' So yeah cryptography puzzles are well made but this story has objectionable content and i would say is copaganda.
Bottom line: Seemed cool, too demanding to like. I wanted to like this game, but it just didn't fit my style because it was too brain-intensive. It has a slow start and is very text-heavy. I just couldn't get into it because it was too much work and lacked interest. Character is a math major and starts cracking codes slowly, but she journals a lot, and the writing overall is dry. Positives:

Complex puzzles
Interesting concept
Negatives:

Too text-heavy
Slow, dry writing (story, concept, execution)
Character is boring
Tedious tasks, pointless journey (leaving house to retrieve a clue, return home, decipher clue, journal, sleep, repeat... too many room stages) This game might be good for someone who really wants to get into cryptograms, and likes intense brain puzzles. Normally I like to play a game for awhile before I review, but I was so bored and frustrated that I just don't even want to play again.
it's a good idea, and a good game, it's just FULL of bugs. mostly typos and word inconsistencies, which is unfortunate for a game that relies so heavily on text as a core function of gameplay. there was a point in the game where the solution it asks for is not the "correct" solution (game won't accept the solution) and some of the typos throw off the entire process of decoding messages but hey, it's free! and generally a good time waster (if you don't mind screeching at your keyboard every now and again)
