This game definitely gets a lot right but there is also some stuff they didn't, which mitigates the experience.
The performance doesn't seem polished and is unbearable until you tweaked a bunch in the settings. The voice acting at times is pretty bad but the writing is fun. The weapons feel heavy at first but that excitement is gone relatively soon in my opinion, since it's not the weapons which feel powerful but rather the effects when your bullets hit the enviornement, the shotgun and sniper are especially disappointing, they don't feel punchy, even more so when you mismanage the leveling system, then it really becomes a nuisance.
I really don't understand why this game has a leveling system in the first place, I didn't know Robocop needs to upgrade first before becoming interesting and those chip upgrades are also a rather weird system. There is alot of boring and uncessary stuff in between the good parts, like everytime you have to backtrack, it just really dents the experience and the flow of the game, especially because their gun fight parts worked out really well: they are fun, exciting and flow well. Especially the good level design is noticeable in those sections, until you have to backtrack.
Playing on the second highest difficulty kept the gunfights somewhat interesting but makes bossfights a heavy nuisance. I didn't bother continuing at that, since my guns didn't deal enough damage to the boss and I wasn't going to stand there for 30 minutes punishing myself or restart the whole run, just to go for a different leveling route, being able to reset these would have helped.
If this was just a straight forward game without that much distraction inbetween the gunfights, it probably would have been a much more enjoyable experience.
I still can recommend it on heavy discount, not a bad game, though it could have been way better.
