cool but a bit too violent for me.
"Rival Rampage" is an unabashed, lazy ripoff of the OG Grand Theft Auto (Copyright Take Two/BMA Interactive, 1997). Many lazy "amateur" developers don't pay attention to their obligations under copyright law, and often steal the ideas of actual, real game developers without credit, such as the "developer" here has done. Putting aside the unethical intellectual, creative and moral bankruptcy of stealing someone else's game concept, this is also breaking that unwritten law of stealing other people's game ideas... you should at least try to do better than the game you're ripping off. "Rival Rampage" is considerably worse than Grand Theft Auto (the OG). Sure, it looks like GTA, top down view over a city, drive bad, commit crimes, but it's even shallower than the original 1997 game that they've basically ripped off the entirety of to make this clone. Stealing other people's games, for profit, is morally and creatively bankrupt. It's no surpri This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. This game is fairly dated at 8 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. On pricing: this is only superficially free. It was a paid product for a whopping FIFTEEN BUCKS... yes, these guys wanted $15 USD for a pixelcrap ripoff of Grand Theft Auto. And it's still not free! Even after that, this is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out a $1 USD "donation" DLC for this as you're expected to buy extra DLC from Steam to "support" the developer... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. No thanks. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel almost as ripped off as BMA Interactive.
