You can pet a cat while standing on top on Sensō-ji Temple in Asakusa watching the sunset with Mount Fuji on horizon. 10/10
I bought this game just because of one screenshot, the Kiyomizudera temple in Kyoto, I've seen it and without reading any reviews or searching for any info, I gambled and got the game despite the "mixed" reviews. The screenshot could only been a cutscene but I decided to give it a try. As I'm writing this review now my character is standing on top of Sensō-ji Temple in Asakusa, petting a cat while watching the sunset with Mount Fuji on horizon. I haven't even gotten to Kyoto yet but the game already won my heart. It's beautiful.
I admit the prologue made me wary at first and I cursed a lot while trying to defeat the boss on the ship but once the world opened and I got a better grasp on the controls I started to love it immediately. Don't get me wrong, it reminds me awfully of first Assassin's Creed (the only one I played and never finished because of it's repetitiveness) but Ronin doesn't have the elements that annoyed me in AC and since I've travelled throughout Japan many times for the past 20 years it's a blast to see how it looked in 1850's. Some things confuse me sometimes, eg as I said I'm at Sensō-ji Temple in Asakusa right now and I know it burned twice around 1650 but it's been restored but here in the game it's still pretty destroyed in 1850 but it only wants me to find out more about it.
My computer is struggling a little with the game, my old graphics card is being used to max gpu and crashes sometimes, sometimes surrounding doesn't load fast enough but that's my old computer, it even motivated me to buy a new graphics card which should arrive tomorrow so I can't wait to explore Kyoto with better specs.
It's not Witcher 3, there could be more variety and less repetitions but I still think it's 8,5/10 game and it's rare for me to write review mid playing.
