terrible ,janky and broken junk Movement is fine but the textures where glitched and chase sequence was utterly broken and impossible so combine glitched textures, with a too big of an enemy model plus the screen moving too slow like i mostly died to something off screen and if i waited for the screen to move i would die since it was that slow horrible junk not worth anyone's time i mean it's short but very poorly made and it shows liked the movement but the rest of the game was just really bad and the chase sequence was soo utterly terrible i could not finish the game 2/10
Простенький платформер, собираем животных и разбиваем ими преграды. В принципе рисовка нормальная, цветовая гамма приятная глазу, для детей самое то. Рекомендую
"Return to the Skyway" is a student project from Digipen, this time they set the students up to fail by making them do a 2D platformer. I guess if I was teaching game design, one of the first things I'd tell people is not to make games in formats that are old, dead, busted, obsolete and only "go viral" in a couple of really rare cases like Cuphead and Hollow Knight. The vast majority of 2D platformers get relegated to the trashheap of garbage amateur games nobody ever plays. Like "Return to the Skyway". I feel bad for the students, but the blame falls squarely on Digipen. Anyway, this platformer is really not good, while it works, the graphics are mediocre at best (better than what "professional" indie devs put out, of course), it's short, it's not fun. It's not the best game from Digipen, while they probably are one of the better game dev academies out there. But why is it good for gamers for colleges to publish every single homework assignment their students get? Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming idustry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
This game is fun, but feels incomplete. I would love to play more and explore the story further, but what currently is released is more like a demo. I finished the game and steam says I played 0.2 hours. Also there are points where the ground is missing (at one point there's a missing asset resulting in a huge black square on the screen), which adds a little extra challenge, but overall still a fun game! Certainly can't complain for a free to play :)
just another half-assed student project by some should-be dropouts. as janky as it looks on the store page, and not in a good way. buggy as hell too. shame, because it's an interesting idea to use creatures to solve puzzles, except they all die once they remove some branches and whatnot, not exactly sending a good message. the only settings are separate volumes and windowed mode, the only controls are a/d to walk, space to jump, mouse to grab and throw. nothing's rebindable, arrows don't work, so non-qwerty people are ♥♥♥♥♥♥, movement is really slow, performance is subpar. and with the character having wings, it'd make more sense to hold space to fly instead of really clunky double-jumps that don't work half the time. dying means getting put back to the last checkpoint and if you were holding an animal, it's now back where you first found it for added frustration. and there's no saving, checkpoints are only for the current session, gotta do everything in one go. esc brings up the pause menu but doesn't close it, then the camera starts off at one of the previous checkpoints until it pans to the player, wherever it is. and again, if you had an animal in your hands before, it's now dropped at your feet. what the ♥♥♥♥? once it was seemingly gone but appeared again after I jumped. this is at least the third game I recall that has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pause penalty, though in one of the others it was a 'feature' that got patched out years later. achievements are also broken, I got the ones for throwing a creature 10 and 50 times after doing it maybe 3 times. even if dropping caused by bringing up the pause menu (even typing it out it sounds insane), it wasn't 10 and nowhere near 50. and apparently there are chase/escape sequences every puzzle platformer has to have for some reason, but I didn't get that far in this mess. another annoyance was the character itself constantly bugging out, like it was having a fit, while standing still. good stuff, well done, now get the ♥♥♥♥ out of gamedev if you haven't already. alternatively, skim this here guide I put together a while ago: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3329695276
