It's a good game, but my biggest issue is that it doesn't last very long. You can probably complete everything within a week. It's fun at first, but there just isn't enough content to keep you coming back. It also lacks much depth or strategy, so once you've seen everything, there's not much reason to keep playing. Overall, it feels like an incomplete experience, as if the game needed more content and features before release.
Retro Rewind is such a unique simulator that perfectly captures the nostalgic feeling of visiting a video rental store in the late '80s and '90s. From stocking the shelves to helping customers find the perfect movie, it brings back so many great memories. The gameplay is easy to learn, making it an excellent choice for both new gamers and seasoned simulator fans. It strikes a great balance between relaxing and engaging, making every session enjoyable. Overall, I've had an amazing time with this game and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys simulation games or simply wants a dose of nostalgia. I can't wait to see what the development team adds in future updates. One suggestion I'd love to see is the addition of multiple difficulty modes—such as Easy, Medium, and Chaos. This would give players the option to tailor the experience to their preferred level of challenge while adding even more replayability. Fantastic job to the developers! I'm excited to see where Retro Rewind goes from here.
It got boring in 2 hours and it expects me to play 10+ hours more? Not a chance.
It is a decent game for a bit but it is extremely repetitive and there are no repercussions, challenges, or anything redeeming after reaching max level. not worth $19.90 wait till it is on sale or just get SuperMarket Simulator that is actually something worth your money. SuperMarket sim is still getting more updates and dlc and is a bit more in depth with pricing of products and all sorts that this game just doesn't have. Just is extremely lifeless and boring after a few hours. Just find something else genuinely.
I have more of a neutral stance on this game, but I can't recommend as the gameplay loop is tedious and there's no actual progression. There's no optimizing sales, there's no maximizing profits, you can't add registers, you can't upgrade the rental return. You have the gameplay loop and that's about it. It's fun for a bit, but if you're looking for a game that has incremental upgrades allowing you to process faster and get bigger profits, look elsewhere. I just got to the end of the first month and after the first two days of Halloween, I'm calling it quits. I was about 2/3 through Fall and I was feeling pretty stuck, I thought I should have expanded the store by now. I still only had the single room, but it was packed with shelving. I always expanded the video selection whenever I could. I came to the review page to see if there was anyone else that felt the same. Sure enough, after reading some of the negative reviews, someone had mentioned that you're basically capped at $300-$500 a day. So, I tried tracking it, sure enough they were right. It's Halloween, Thursday. I stocked all my snack shelves with chocolate, my ad board was set to boost snack sales, I had 3 shelves FULL of horror movies as well as full shelves through the store. All returns were made and all movies repaired before opening the store. I had the employee set to the register, I grabbed 5 flyers and hit open. Then I sprinted as much as I could, handing out flyers as much as possible. I must have handed out at least 50 flyers. Returned videos whenever there was one. There was always a line at the register. Even with my hard work, I barely surpassed $500. Surely, Friday would be even better. Fridays = more sales right? Wrong. I busted my rear just like the previous day. Handed out just as many flyers. $350 in sales. Utterly disappointed. What's the point of even trying? If you want to return videos for hours on end and numb your brain as a pretend Blockbuster employee, then this is for you. It's casual through and through. There are other "store simulator" type games out there that have actual progression and make you feel like you're succeeding rather than doing the same thing over and over and over again.
After 3-4 hours, the gameplay loop becomes very stagnant and boring with not much change happening. Progression is relatively slow, you can't change prices of anything (despite market value of movies being 10x the value they sell for), equipment upgrades you purchase don't really increase your revenue by any margin at all. You basically buy movies and pop them on the shelves, check-in movies and rewind/bin them - that's all there is to the gameplay loop. This may as well be just a video game store designing sim with no economy or customers.
Very fun an addicting game. Brings back good memories of my parents taking me to the video store to rent some movies and games! Looking forward to future updates!
