A very great and cozy concept, but, it has little no longevity and after a bit it feels like a waste of time. Granted I understand that it's a simple game overall and it doesn't need to be complex, however, there is a fundamental lack of things to do overall and it's the same, day in day out. A game like this needs branching out features that gives it life, such as competition, store management, MUCH deeper customization, special features involving the customers because it's really limited at the moment. Fun for a little but once you've done the same things for hours on end, and very little color in between, just makes it a quick enjoyment but I find little to no reasons to go back to it. Addtionally, you're confined to the SAME space the entire time, it's not like you can choose different video store locations or the likes. Perhaps in the future I'd recommend it more but for a full release game it feels like early access.
Its very repetitive. No special mechanics. No rewards. Only some small upgrades. Did not even play it untill the end.
Please read other negative reviews for this game. They're really spot-on. I wish I could refund the person who gifted Retro Rewind to me, because I will probably never touch it again and kind of wish I could have my 41 hours back. I didn't feel good playing this game, for a number of reasons, though I did play it to the point of getting most achievements and all expansions. The worst part for me was the upset customers knocking VHS tapes off the counter and throwing tantrums due to having to pay a fee. It was absolutely pointless and only served to give me flashbacks of working REAL retail with angry customers giving me crap to my face... which is not the point of simulation games! They're supposed to be fun, if not somewhat relaxing in some cases. The progression feels pointless, as no matter what you unlock or how many VHS tapes you have in your store or how many expansions you have unlocked, you are always making between 400 - 600 dollars per day. Also this is really subjective but I absolutely hate the human models in this game. They're creepy and bug-eyed and just not pleasing to look at for me. The store decorating and the customer requests were neat and I did enjoy them, but they don't hold up the rest of the experience for me. As a lot of negative reviews say, it feels like a game that should still be in Early Access. There just isn't enough going for it. I feel sad leaving a negative review, as I really wanted to love this game. I love the concept; I am 100% an 80's/90's kid and I loved visiting Blockbuster back then. But it feeds on your nostalgia and doesn't give you a rewarding experience for your time. TL;DR: Retro Rewind is fun for a little while and slightly scratches the first-person simulation game itch, but there are too many negative things about it for me to recommend it.
Vibe, chill, neon.
Game is actually decent. Content is lacking but the real issue is they claim to be a family friendly game while promoting trans propaganda in their community. Parents need to be aware. Can’t recommend.
