I've played through a small portion of this game, I love the artistic style and design. Although I will say I feel the platforming is really janky at times, and i've found myself falling into spikes repeatedly just to try and get a single jump right. Additionally, at times its easy to get lost! But overall its a really fun game!
Red Silhouette, not much to say about this game, other than its a great indie title. A very bittersweet shrimple game that has you doing minor puzzles platforming and fighting off monsters, there is also a horde mode if that's what tickles your fancy aswell. My only critique is that there is no tutorial or proper demonstration of the controls, the moment you finish the first cut-scene your thrown straight into the action, this can be problematic for some but also a breath of fresh air for others, ultimately its not that big of a problem especially with how forgiving most areas are. Also this game is marked as "Horror" but its not really that scary, its more so of a thriller game rather than a spooky title sure the atmosphere is a bit dystopian but dont expect any BS screen covering Jumpscares. I really hope the developer who made this goes on to continue Evie's story in some way, or better yet just make more games within this universe, would love to see more. Thanks for reading my review :)
A very interesting world and game experience. I love the 2D sprites mixed with the 3D environment, reminds me a lot of Hexcraft, and the world is strange? There's a lot of the setting that is kind of up to you to gleam from. While it is fun I will say that the game really seems to swing between "creature that does no damage (probably from poor hitbox implementation)" to "this thing will instantly kill you". After finishing: What a short (positive), strange and unique experience. There are clear short comings in the technical end like the movement mechanics not being explained properly (such as being able to wall jump) and an overall clunkiness for the shooting and combat. However they're not difficult to overlook and work with. The atmosphere, setting and story of the game are bizarre and dream like. I'm not really certain what transpired in the game in some aspects, like the Stain character though I take it I'm meant to look at some of these more bizarrely angelic creatures metaphorically. However this strangeness contributes greatly to the experience of the story as the MC herself is lost and confused by the spatially warping, time jumping mess of a mall. It really sucks you into her headspace. I like it.
I don't know if i'm just stupid, or if theres a glitch, or what. But theres a maze section at the begining where you have to find little secret sections but everything is just a dead end.
i like the game man
Cool game
Really cool vibey game that feels great to play. It is a hidden gem for fans of exploration first and foremost, especially exploring weird liminal spaces. If you're into that, I highly recommend. Story? Whatever. Horror? None. Survival? Monsters survive from you; even the default pickaxe is overpowered. My 2 fears before buying as a person with a lot of experience with very niche indie games were that the controls would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and that the difficulty would be insanely unbalanced, not in your favor. Thankfully, neither was the case.
A note to the developer: I like what you've done and I feel like this can be a beta version of something even cooler. I particularly enjoyed the juxtaposition of 2D and 3D elements. It's a novel aesthetic. It took me until the theater level to understand the level design. I was mostly lost before that. There's a lot of cool things going on with the movement and melee systems, but I had to figure everything out through trial and error. Wall-jumping was particularly troublesome. It seems like I can only wall jump on the side that aligns with my camera view when playing with a controller e.g. if my camera is aligned to the left I can only make wall jumps on walls that are on my left side. The vertical limits for aim-down-sights was an issue as well. There's areas where you should be able to smoothly walk over things (mostly stairs) but can't. Continue to polish the game and add a tutorial. You've done great work and I can tell based on what you've done so far that you can take this to the next level.
Red Silhouette is a psychological survival horror game developed by Noah Lewin and published by Day Dreamer Games. Set within a strange and abandoned shopping mall on a remote island, the game presents a disturbing vision of a future shaped by extreme inequality and social decay. Players assume the role of Eevi, a poorly paid security worker tasked with investigating the deserted complex on behalf of an elusive billionaire. What begins as a routine assignment quickly evolves into a descent through a nightmare filled with supernatural mysteries, fractured memories, and unsettling revelations. The game's strongest feature is its atmosphere. The abandoned mall serves as far more than a simple backdrop for horror. It becomes a character in its own right, packed with forgotten spaces, hidden stories, and a lingering sense of tragedy. Every corridor, store, and dimly lit room contributes to a feeling of isolation that remains constant throughout the adventure. The developers successfully transform a familiar environment into something deeply unsettling, allowing players to feel both curious and vulnerable as they explore deeper into the complex. A major highlight is the use of non-Euclidean level design. The mall frequently defies logic, with shifting layouts, impossible architecture, and locations that seem to exist outside conventional reality. These surreal elements create an ongoing sense of uncertainty, making exploration both exciting and unnerving. The mysterious entity known as the Red Silhouette plays a central role in guiding players through these strange spaces while adding another layer of intrigue to the narrative. Rather than relying on straightforward storytelling, the game encourages players to uncover meaning through environmental details and fragmented clues. Survival mechanics play an important role in maintaining tension. Inventory management forces players to think carefully about what supplies to carry, while limited resources ensure that every decision matters. Combat is present but never overwhelming, emphasizing survival rather than empowerment. Eevi can obtain various realistic weapons to defend herself against the horrific creatures lurking throughout the mall, yet encounters remain dangerous and unpredictable. This balance helps preserve the horror atmosphere by preventing the player from ever feeling completely safe. Visually, Red Silhouette combines a 2.5D perspective with striking art direction. The presentation allows for cinematic framing while still encouraging exploration and immersion. The environments are filled with memorable imagery that blends nostalgia, decay, and surrealism. Bright visual accents contrast with dark themes, creating scenes that are often beautiful and disturbing at the same time. The creature designs and environmental details further reinforce the game's psychological horror identity, helping it stand apart from more conventional indie horror titles. Beyond its scares, the game explores themes of consumerism, exploitation, class division, and the value of human life in a society controlled by the ultra-wealthy. Eevi's position as a disposable worker trapped inside a forgotten monument to capitalism gives the story additional weight. The mall becomes a symbolic space where memories, regrets, and social failures have accumulated over time. Players willing to engage with the game's symbolism will find a surprisingly thoughtful narrative beneath the horror elements. The pacing may not appeal to everyone. Those expecting nonstop action or a clearly explained story may find parts of the experience slow or intentionally ambiguous. The abstract storytelling requires patience, and some players may leave with questions that are never fully answered. However, these qualities also contribute to the game's uniqueness, encouraging interpretation rather than providing easy explanations. Red Silhouette succeeds because it commits fully to its vision. It delivers an unsettling journey driven by atmosphere, exploration, and thematic depth rather than cheap scares. The combination of psychological horror, survival mechanics, surreal environments, and social commentary creates an experience that remains memorable long after completion. While its experimental approach may limit its appeal to a niche audience, horror fans who appreciate symbolic storytelling and immersive world-building will likely find much to admire. Red Silhouette is a creative and haunting survival horror experience that blends surreal exploration, psychological tension, and meaningful themes into a compelling adventure. Developed by Noah Lewin and published by Day Dreamer Games, it stands out as an ambitious indie horror title that rewards players willing to embrace its mysteries. Rating: 7/10
